Was, Then Wasn't, But DID

I've been thinking of a P232 SS for awhile. Bought a new P232 SL years ago and stupidly sold it while "gun churning".

So I decided to buy another P232 SS, couldn't find a NIB so when I read that the P232 was going to be discontinued (the thread on this forum) I decided to buy a subcompact 9mm instead (was afraid of parts/magazine issues with a discontinued gun).

But in the back of my mind I lusted after a P232 SS, couldn't get it out of my mind (not to mention I have a bunch of .380 ACP but no .380 ACP guns anymore).

The subcompact 9mm I was looking at isn't in stock at my dealer yet so night after night I looked at YouTube videos and searched various auctions for a P232 SS.

Found a nice used P232 SL and the seller was local and while I debated on buying the used one the gun sold on auction. It was older and had the integrated front sight (which I didn't really want since the night sights were nearly dead)...but it was nice. When the gun sold before I made up my mind, the seller told me he guessed it "just wasn't meant to be". WELL HE WAS RIGHT!!!

To heck with it being discontinued (supposedly)...I emailed my dealer who previously said they could order a new one and told them to "go ahead and order". Well lo and behold, today I got a call and they said they actually had one sitting on their shelf, a January 2014 model!!! I was there within the hour.

Stainless, Siglite night sights, finger groove Hogue grips, 2 magazines. It does not have any proofing marks on the slide but the slide DOES have "DE" imprinted over the 9mm Kurtz line. Frame marked "Made in Germany" and the serial number. Haven't field stripped it to see what markings it may have under the grips or anywhere else (if any).

Anyway, I'm VERY happy.....now I have another dilemma....sort of hate to remove the tag around the grips and shoot her!!! But I'm going to!!!

A quick picture before I field strip, clean and lube. Will post a range report in a few weeks.

Great find!

I've wanted one for a while, myself. They're beautiful firearms!

Ill snag one up if I can find it at a good price.

Thanks for the comments guys...........this forum has been so helpful that I have yet another question. Are there any small parts/springs etc that I should keep on hand for the P232? Maybe items that tend to "get lost" or should be replaced every 3000 rounds or so? I searched for information but didn't readily find any suggestions (I don't have very good luck with the search function for some reason).

Thanks

Congratulations!! I know what you mean about not wanting to take the tag off....best to do it quickly like band-aid! Then shoot her like you stole her!!

I've got one, and will probably never shoot it again. I love this gun but it is my only stainless. I wouldn't mind a P229 SSE and a P229SAS in .357 and a X5 and a X6 and......oh come on, can't a man dream!
