Almost everything for sale in the US is made in Exter. Exceptions could be special runs of a particular model and pistols out of the Mastershop like the P226 X-Five.

I have both German made/proofed and Exter.

The performance on ALL my SIGs are spectacular - reliable, durable, great trigger, and outstanding accuracy.

The Secret Service and the SEALS are using Exter SIGs - P229 and P226.

I believe just the frame?

Any totally German made SIG pistol will have triple serial numbers (frame, slide, and barrel) and German proof marks.

Yes, I think you're correct. Just the frame.

I do not think there is a difference in "quality" between the two.We can match anybody for quality and surpass anybody if we put our minds to it. One thing the Americans are very good at is reliability. As an example in ww ll look how our tanks and aircraft were made verses the Germans. Sure the German stuff was closer tolerance etc. and required a lot of up keep and adjustments. Our stuff was mass produced with "race" tolerance and just worked for ever, sorta like SIGS.

Sig makes a lot of guns in Germany. Are you asking what Sig guns made in Germany are still being imported into the U.S.?

Here is my P228 project gun that was purchased from Afton Arms; there we approximately 20 produced. The gun was made in Eckernford Germany and has a stainless steel frame with an Ilaflon coated carbon steel folded slide. The gun has triple S/N's and the test target. My understanding is that Germany is more than willing to produce "Special Project Guns". This one was worth the wait! I also have a P226 SL on order from Afton Arms which is 100% German made. If interested in German made guns check out Afton Arms!

I looked long and hard at those Afton Arms reverse two-tone P228s but finally decided I just didn't like the look. Jaymie says there will be another special order of P228s sometime either late this year or early in 2013 that won't be reverse. I may take a look again at that time.
