p228 light strikes.

Out of 550 rounds that I recently fired, I got 2 rounds that failed to fire. It first happened while shooting 250 rounds of reloads. Then happened once again when shooting 300 rounds of Herters brass case ammo. Is this something I should be concerned about? or am I just being too picky?

Did you try to fire the dud rounds in another gun?
If so, and they fired the second trip- then I would be concerned. But if they failed again- I would suspect bad ammo.

I just went through this with a striker fired gun. Everyone said the ammo was bad. I took all the duds- that would not fire after repeated strikes- I loaded them into my Sig 228 and they all went off without issue.

But your first try was in a hammer fired gun and some failed. I would try it in another gun before I suspected the 228 of light strikes.

the first time it happened it fired on the 3rd try. The second time I don't remember if I shot it again or tossed it.

95SigP228, Years ago, when I was just getting into all this shooting stuff, I had
a friend reload ammunition for me. I assumed he knew what he was doing as he
had been reloading for years. That was a mistake. I had many FTF's and failures
to chamber. I thought it was my gun until some one else looked at the ammo he loaded
for me. Many had primers that were not fully seated, and most had been flared
too much to seat the bullet and that caused the failure to chamber. Now I reload
my own and pay attention to what I'm turning out and have had no problems in
thousands of rounds. My $.02 Shawn

Should I be worried about this? Or is it most likely the ammo?

Hard to know without a picture of the dimple. Try different ammo brands and see if you have a similar experience.

I would not be concerned about it at this point.
However- I would keep any ammo that failed to fire and try it in another gun. If it failed again...then it is obviously bad ammo.
It would be a good thing for you to document these ftf events. Write down what ammo you are using. Keep a log of all the ammo you fire. Then a year or two from now if you have a problem shooting Remington UMC or what ever...you can look back and easily see which ammo has been poor.
I have a new 380 pistol that has had 13 failures out of 475 total rounds. I have used 7 different brands of ammo. 8 of those failures was with Tula steel cased ammo, and 5 with cheap gun show re-loads. I now know the gun is good, and some of the ammo was bad.
I don't buy the cheap stuff any more.....its not worth the savings.
