Cleaning my Sig

Hello everyone. I'll be getting my first Sig next week, a P290. Any advice on what to use to clean it? Specifically, oil vs. dry lube? Thanks for your help.

I think any good gun cleaner is fine. I use Mil-comm's but there's other cleaners too. For
lubrication__ absolutely Mil-Comm > First time follow recommendations > 1- Clean well and
remove any residue with 91% alcohol. 2- Be sure gun is warm. (not hot) I warm it up with
a hair dryer. 3- Apply Mil-Comm TW-25a grease sparingly. (It will look like hand lotion)
4- I let it set for at least a half hour. (the grease is penetrating the pores of the metal)
5- Wipe off all light colored film. (Don't forget the rails)
This is extreme lubrication that works well for the military's gatling guns___so good enough for me. The first two procedures is for the first time. After this just wipe off the gun and patches through the barrel__the Mil-comm in the barrel and slides will STILL be there.
For those tiny to reach places__Mil-Comm's MC2500 oil. It's the same stuff only thinner.
For most shooters/ range trips again___there's several real fine gun lubricants out there
and are fine for any of the average poppers.
I just treat any newly purchased gun this way and will repeat about every six months the
entire procedures. (Most Mil-Comm users don't) I just enjoy working with my fine high quality pistols and will use what I feel is the finest for the finest.
G'luck and enjoy your smart purchase.

Each of us has a preference. Most high quality modern cleaners / lubes will protect your SIG. One caution, however, if you only buy one SIG it will rust away in one year if you don't buy a second one to keep it company. Good luck and good shooting. :D:p;)
This ^^^. It's true; it's in the design.
Personally, I use M-Pro7 or CLP to clean; Eezox for a rust inhibitor; Mil-Comm TW-25 or Enos's Slide Glide for the rails and barrel—each step, each time. Shoot. Repeat.

Super Lube gets great reviews. Back when they had give away samples I never received mine. Oh well, I bought a jar or TWB when I used up my free Sig sample, now I have more than I'll use in 5 years. Then Hepkat (sp?) had 16 oz. bottles of MC2500 mis priced at $29 bucks on Amazon, now I have more than I'll ever need.

For cleaning materials, a bore snake and some Swab-its from Amazon.

How and when, what with not so much.

I use Ballistol to clean, M-Pro7 LPX for oil, and Lubriplate SFL-1 for grease.

Ballistol and Lubriplate are both non-toxic (and cheap). That is most important to me.
