| 226 west German KB dated
When did the West German marking drop of the Sigs and just Germany appear? It appears to be test fired and well made with smooth double action. Triple ser# proofed.

my 225 is fairly new and has the marks. marks on the slide barrel and frame

W Germany ceased to exist in 89 with the fall of the Berlin wall. I'm no expert but I'm guessing shortly there after. German proof markings can be found to this day on Sigs produced in Germany. Hard to get a hold of new in the US but the police trades can be had with 2000 and later proof marks.

Quite a few years...P220s from 1994 still had W Germany marking... Bill |

It appears from from other sources that even up to 1996-97 there have been West German 220,s and 226-228 close to that. Then they overstamped the W. with a Sig Trademark stamp. After that it was Germany for awhile Till EXTER stainless onepiece USA made were sold. But in Germany there still German Made . Some get in,but very few anymore . Other than trade ins. CPO's. I have a 228 1997.

my 1994 P220 is Exeter marked with the W. Germany...remember...SiGARMS at the time was an importer...even into Exeter era...they built or assembled some but others were still made in Germany and sent here... Bill |
