P290 Ejecting 115 ammo

I've got a P290 that I bought from Academy. I got it home and discovered I did not get the latest version (P290RS). So I kinda got my feelings hurt right off the bat. No issues for me with light strikes. I bought the gun for concealed carry and I really like it.
When carrying I load CorBon 115 grain +P ammo. I have had a single stovepipe jam but I wasn't sure that I wasn't limp wristing the pistol so I wrote it off.
I clean the gun after each trip to the range and have shot between 600 and 800 rounds since purchase.
Today shooting 115 grain Remington UMC in the 250 round pack I had four failure to ejects in about six mags of ammo... I was blown away and it shook my confidence in the pistol.
I came home and called Sig. The rep stated that I may want to switch to 135 grain ammo. He offered to send me a shipping label and said it would take 4 to 5 weeks to turn the gun at the factory.
I hate to own a gun that won't shoot the most common ammo. I was wondering if any P290 owners were having this issue and a ammo change solved the problem. My plan is to send the gun to Sig barring any advice on this forum not to.
Attached is a photo of a failure to eject. All looked exactly the same. Any advice appreciated.

some can be picky, you just have to find out what's reliable.

it's strange that after offering the recommendation of 135 of teh offer to send it back.
would sending it back mean sig would upgrade to rs?

welcome from az.

Have you shot a lot? If so, I can't help you.

But if you're new to pistol shooting, your problem sure sounds/looks from your photo like mine was when I first got my SIG 2022. Turns out I was limpwristing.

As soon as I corrected that, FTEs became a thing of the past. I literally haven't had a single failure in the last 500 rounds, and all I shoot are 115g FMJ.

I have a 290 I also purchased from Academy in August. While at academy I purchased a combo pack of federal American eagle and hydroshock ammo and haven't had any issues with fte.

P290 Headed Home Today

Just to update I shot another hundred rounds or so from my P290. I used both 115 and 124 grain FMJ ammo. I had two more FTE so today my pistol is headed back to Sig. I'll update when I get it back.

I had a P-290 that wasn't the R/S version. Had light strikes every range outing. Sent the pistol back to Sig, and they installed the R/S trigger system. The re- strike system worked great, and I have to say the P-290 I had the R/S system was a must. Still had plenty of light strikes, but of course I could now just pull the trigger again, and I had to just that many times. I have heard they have redesigned the entire trigger group now and buyers are not having these problems, so I guess that's a good thing. But I have no faith in this model. I hate it because I really do like the little pistol. Also I will give Sig Sauer credit. They were professional, and truly concerned that I wasn't a happy consumer, and agreed to work with me on this problem. We are working together to come up with a solution we can both live with.

did you ever follow the recommendation of the sig rep & try 135's before sending back.

most common is a relative term, you have to find out the diet the new sig likes & if you're willing to put your life on the line with that ammo..

To follow up I did send the P290 back to Sig. It was returned to me Hurricane Sandy and all in about 3 weeks. The gunsmith at Sig replaced the ejector and fired 40 rounds through it. I went yesterday and fired 100 rounds through it with 115 grain UMC with no issues. I fired all 100 in less than 10 minutes. Double taps, triple taps etc. No failures to feed. I'm very pleased with Sig's service to my pistol and I'm putting my little P290 back in service as my primary cc weapon.
