"Looking to date your German Sig."

Well, if it's just going to be dinner and a movie, this German Sig will stay at home. Just what kind of a pistol do you think I am, anyway?

I am always thinking of the other problems... Misfires, premature shots... I can't take being criticized as much as I am... LOL...

P220 S/N Manufacture Year

Hello Everyone,

New here.. I just picked up a used P220 and was researching trying to find the manufacture date. I ended up calling Sig customer service @ (603) 772-2302.. Option 1 and option 1 again. Representative told me mine was manufactured in 1997 S/N prefix is G 271 XXX... Barrel shows it was made in Germany. Hope this helps someone else down the road. Taking it to the range today after work. Looking forward to putting some rounds through it.

What to do?
I have a 1990 W. German made P226.
I had thought about running it through the Sig program plus refinish of the slide, for $300.
Since they are not about to return the original (old) parts to me, am I lowering the value by letting them change springs, rod, sights, etc?

Or, should I just buy kits and upgrade, keeping the originals with the pistol?

sethrus - what are you trying to accomplish? If it's a "make it pretty" deal - don't.

As to the old parts - you can request they be returned if you go the Sig update route. Personally, I wouldn't even consider it.

This old dude is a 91 and has seen thousands of rounds. The slide fit is looser than Granny's goose, there's some frame rail wear now and it rattles like mad. Regardless, I have no problem drilling round after round with it at 25 yards. It's retired from competitions now, but not just pure pleasure of shooting at the range. The only thing it has asked for has been springs and Nill grips [not shown].

It is generally now relegated to my bedside gun when it's not playing at the range - but I still to this day trust my life to its accuracy and reliability.

Mine is bedside now too, but great to shoot. It has FTF every once in a while now.
Tight on the rail. My grips are different.

Too heavy for me as a concealed piece any more. I bought it used one month after 9/11, so don't what it's worth now.
Mine has about the same holster wear as yours though.
Guess I'll just clean it again and put it back to bed.
