First Sig - W German P220

Hey everyone,
I just bought my first Sig. A W German P220 (paid $595 + tax).
I was wondering if one you fine folks could help me date the pistol?

I know on some forums they ask you to xxx out some numbers, not sure if thats needed here or not.

If anyone can assist, I can provide any details I can, & I'll certainly appreciate the help.

Here's a pic:

Serial number may help as will the 2 letter date code on the dust cover just under the barrel/muzzle area...you have one newer than 1994 probably because of the rounded hammer...should be a great P220...45ACP I suspect???

If everything is original and yours wasn't a certified pre owned (CPO) it should be a 1994 due to the older checkered plastic stocks and that newer rounded hammer with the safety intercept notch making the P220 similar to the other P Series pistols...

Hey Bill,

Thanks for the reply. Yes, this is the .45. It has a great feel to it.
Serial is G 232 990
I think the date code (under the barrel) is KE.

Thanks for your help.

Jim

Thanks everyone. I did a lot of digging through the site and figured I just had to have one. Fortunately the boss watched an episode of Walking Dead with me a couple of nights before and she agreed it was a good idea to add to the collection, lol.

So, random question concerning the gun (and I guess Sig as well), the markings on the side say W. Germany. Germany reunited in 89' (officially in 90'), so does anyone know why it's still marked Made in W. Germany?

I could see if it was made in 90 & the Sig Factory just hadn't gotten around to modifying the "design", but this is 4 years later… Just curious.

Thanks for the help everyone, glad to be on board.
