| New 938 won't fire
Hi guys!! This is my first post and all I can say is I wish I found this forum before buying the 938. Lots of great info on here!! Long story made short, took my new 938 to range and after about 30 rounds it just quit firing. Though maybe it was defective old ammo so I ran it threw my glock and no problem. Showed it to gunsmith at range and said it looked like a problem with firing pin... Sent back to sig and expressed my disappointment. They said they would take care of it but doesn't help my dissatisfaction. I really like the gun and shot real good till it broke. Has anyone else had a problem like this.. Most problems I see r related to fte. Rant over!!!

Well that sucks Von. I'm getting ready to go shoot my new 938 in a few hours and really don't know what to expect after reading some rather troubling stories about this little gun. I'm going to polish my feed ramp before I go with some Flitz and a felt Dremel tool just to bring some good karma.

Good luck cyber cowboy... Im just a little surprised the problems they are having given sigs reputation and these are not a cheap gun!!! I wish I could find a 7 round extended mag for mine but I'm not going to pay $150 or$200 they are going for on gunbroker. Must be some serious back order issues at sig on the magazines. Have fun at the range and give us a report

Von...the 938 is a new weapon and as such, many did-do have issues mostly dealing with failure to feed, failure to eject. If you do research on this forum, you'll find that Sig does stand behind their products and will work to get yours in top running order....just work with them and don't hesitate to document any problems, contact customer service and send it back as is needed. This gun is on a 1911 platform and single action. It does require a firm and confident grip or that can effect it's function. I haven't had any issues and mine has a manufacture date of early Oct 2012. I can say that many have found the 938 works best with 124 gr, but mine cycles with no problems at 115 gr also. Once your issues are resolved, I can tell you that it is my favorite edc.....accurate, great stopping power and perfect size. Quote:

| Don't worry
Von3514, welcome to the forum! It sounds as though you may have just got a gun with a defective pin. A drag to be sure, but that can happen. SIG i have no doubt will quickly resolve the matter and you'll end up with a fine product. Remember, in this products life span it's in its infancy and, as such, some issues will need to be worked through. My P938 has hundreds of flawless rounds through it and I'm pleased with it. Is it perfect? No, I can find some things I have wished were different. Maybe, in a few years I might even sell mine and by a new one, a post intro. model. For now, I look at this as being a participant in the manufacturers learning curve on a new product (a real process in the world of manufacturing), after all the design models, test assemblies and pre-market testing you finally put the product through the final test phase: Market Introduction. Customer feed back eventually gets you to a refined product after a year or so of market evaluation/feedback. Some people will not buy a major product (cars, electronics etc.), until it has been out for a year. GUNS ARE NO DIFFERENT. If the manufacturer is willing, at their cost, to resolve your complaint, most likely you'll find resolution and be pleased with both prod. & manufacturer. Disappointment? No doubt, we've all been there. But as time passes, you tend to forget that first speed bump and remember only having a fine high quality firearm. And do remember, for the thousands produced there are really very few complaints. It just always seems like to many times we get to say, "Of course I got the screwed up one." Don't worry it'll all be good in short order.

| That's funny, I have a G26 too. I still love the way the Glock shoots, but this P938 has gotten under my skin. It's really a fine gun and sharp looking to boot.

I considered the 938 last summer but way to many issues with this gun. I liked the feel of it but don't trust it at all. I've read that some have sent their 938 back to Sig a few times and finally got it to work correctly. Hopefully someday Sig figures the 938 out and they become reliable.

Good luck with it. Sig will take care of you. All little guns have issues simply due to the shrinkage needed for size. Others may be good. I have experience that Sig and Springfield covers their product for life. Others for a year. That is comforting |

To the OP, Yes, I had a similar issue with my 938. The firing pin somehow managed to mushroom at the hammer end and got stuck in the FP retaining plate. It took a punch to free it. Called Sig CS and they asked if I wanted them to just mail me a new FP or send in the gun......I said to just mail me one. A new FP arrived in about 4 days, no issues since then with over 1600 rounds shot to date. |

Update..... Talked to gunsmith at my local gun shop today,, said he looked at my 938 and the firing pin spring had broke. Said its a pain to fix and sent it to sig. I sure miss that little gun!!!! Don't remember who asked where in Ohio I live but just for info I'm just north of columbus.

Got my 938 back yesterday.... I was a little upset the lgs charged me $25 for shipping which I know is BS but I was so happy to have it back I paid the $25. Ran 100 rounds of 115 grain blazer brass and never had a single problem. Brought the gun home and disassembled it and noticed that besides fixing the firing pin that they also polished the feed ramp,,, and I'm pretty sure it has a different recoil spring and the extractor looks different. Seems like everything is Good so I'm back to carrying it... The wife is happy she can have her 238 back... It fits better in her purse then my glock!!! Thanks SIG

Takes all of five minutes to replace a firing pin spring in a 938. I can't imagine a GS that couldn't do this blindfolded. I suggest you try a different GS in the future.

Hello from Lexington...my P938 initially had a problem but since returned from Sig, it's been flawless. It's a great carry.
