My new to me Sig P220

I got myself a nice P220. It has a stainless steel slide but no rail. It was made in 2010. This gun is a tac driver and also my primary carry gun. I just love this thing.

I didn't know they did either. But the reason I bought it was because it has no rail. The model is 220-45-BSS-RG P220 , 45 , Nitron , SLite DA/SA made on 26-Oct-2010 .

Nice gun. I just don't understand the obsession with rails. Most guys never mount anything on them and if they do, they never get any training on how to use the accessories...LOL.

FRONT SIGHT.....trigger control .....follow thru!

I hear from time to time that Sig uses frame-slides on hand and the odd variation shows up.
Still it is all new and all a 2010 Sig.
You have a winner there and I'm a tad jealous !!!
I tried all three laser types. Rail and in recoil spring you have to move to turn on. Grip just squeese or don't squeeze.
I finally decided lasers and Night sights may be nice, but I can live without them just fine.
I just want easy to carry, and totally dependable.

I bought this Sig hoping to trade it to one of my friends for my old P220 that I sold him. But I think I am just going to keep this one as it is a tac driver.

Congrats on the nice find! I have a 229 with a rail but I don't plan to put anything on it.

The only reason I like my Sigs with no rails or tails is because I like the classic look of the Sig.

As a fresh new member to sig talk, but not young by any means, I would like to bring up something about the Sig "NITRON" finish.

First though, my new sig is a P220 Compact SAO - cocked and locked system. For some reason, it has been in storage for over 2 years, as the date on the box was fall 2010. Getting to the point, before I even fired it I practiced drawing it from my old leather Bianchi Sh. Holster quite a few times. Now that holster really holds a gun tight, but it is in perfect condition. After drawing it quite a few times out of it, I noticed a few small scratches on the slide.

Boy, was I disappointed in the NITRON finish if it would scratch that easy. It looks to me like the finish on a Glock is super-tuff compared to that. Has anyone had a similar problem with the finish like I did?

Taking it to the range told a different story though - very accurate and more of a soft-shooter than the G-23. Right on the money at 30 feet on a small target at slow fire.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a shoulder holster that they could recommend, as the P220 is about 7 oz heavier than the Glock, I can't seem to handle a hip holster.

Thanks for being able to speak to like-minded folks who obey the law and keep them and their loved-ones safe, while keeping are streets safe too.

I think the shoulder holster is mostly a holster of the past. If you get a good gun belt and IWB holster for your Sig you should be good to go.

I have been looking at a 511 tactical T shirt that has a well made quilted gun pocket under each arm. Cabelas has them. Granted to get to it a button would have to open. I have an old one now that holds a 1911 real well, but is hot. This one looks cool.

SIG'S SIG'S SIG'S nothing better. I love em. Getting ready to buy a P250, then the extra exchange kits and all of the other neat things that can go along with it.

Thanks, This P220 is growing on me more and more every day.
I really wanted to get one of the old Sig P220's but this gun is just so darn nice.
I think I will get a older Sig P220 next summer when I have the funds.
Sig seams to be doing a great job with the guns made here in NH.
