Sig P938 Hammer Back Position

I have a Sig P938 and love it. It is one of my carry guns.
I carry it with the Hammer back and one in the chamber with the safety on.
I checked it out at the gun range to see if the safety works in this position, and if it will fire. It only fires when the safety comes off.

My question is with the hammer back 90% of the time will it weaken the hammer spring?

It is designed to be carried that way. Constant compression does not wear springs out, cycling (i.e. firing) does. This goes for any spring, including magazine springs.

And don't worry about wearing it out, they have more springs.

Wink Thumb the hammer down?

Never do that. Drop the mag, and empty the chamber by racking the slide. Point downrange, take the safety off and pull the trigger to drop the hammer.
Lots of AD's happen by trying to drop the hammer on a live round.
