P226 MK25 Vs P226 Tacops Vs. P229

If you were wanting a new 9mm Sig and had your pick of P226 MK25 (the gun the Navy Seals carry), P226 Tacops (with short reset trigger and four magazines and night sites) or the P229, which one would you pick and why?

I want to get one of these sometime in the future. I was wanting the MK25 but the Tacops with four magazines and short reset trigger sounds cool too.

Is there a big difference between the MK25 and Tacops? Where does the P229 fit in?

Im former Navy myself and the Mk25 was appealling to me as well but I researched for about 6 months and decided the Tacops was the way to go for me! Its a sweet shhoting gun and has just about any mod you could want to put on it out the box! Plus the 4 20 round mags are a nice addition!

I prefer the Tacop, serated slide, beavertail, magwell and four mags. The anchor and the coated internals don't do much for me.

P226 MK25 Vs P226 Tacops Vs. P229

I owned a 226 9mm TACOPS, a MK25, and a M11A1 all at the same time. I sold the TACOPS and bought another MK25.

I find the srt to be a bit over rated and i really have no need for it. I do like the short trigger though so I bought a couple to install on my mk25's.

See if you can go and hold both of them. The mk25 just feels better in my hand. Both shoot great.

2 MK25's, a M11A1, and a G26 Gen 4 have my 9mm pistol needs covered. A Colt 6951 keeps them company : )

My choice of the three would be Tacops. However you did not state as to a carry, home defense, or range pistol. Tacops would be way too big to try to conceal as a carry gun but right from Sig it comes with pretty much everything standard.

P229 is a bit shorter in LOA and grip, making it a bit easier for CCW.

TACOPS with a TB has all the toys......

You can think of the P229 as a smaller, "compact" version of the P226 so for some it will be easier to CCW, if that is a factor for you.

Since I am not a big fan of beavertails, I would vote for the MK25. And while I would like to have a few super-high capacity mags on hand, I don't want to have just them exclusively like the 4 that come with the Tac Ops, so that feature doesn't do anything for me.

If you want to carry it be it CCW or Duty get the P229. I say this not because of size but by the fact that holsters for the P226 are designed for the standard P226R. I was looking for a P226 for a new duty gun and all the holster manufactures said that the MK25 and Tacops would not fit because of the different rail on the MK25 and the extended beaver tail on the Tacops.

For a range gun you really can't go wrong with any of them but I would say the 229 is more versatile but still as capable.

As prior service Navy, and retired LEO who carried a P-226 I gotta go with the P-226 MK-25 for practical as well as sentimental reasons. However,I don't think you will go wrong with any of your options.Good luck!

I have both the Tacops in 40 and the P229 in 40. Love them both. Really like the 4 hicap mags and the larger magwell grips with the Tacops. My next purchase will be the MK25 though. Basically saying you can't go wrong with any of the choices. Shoot each and see which feels better to you and suites your needs.

Grew up shooting my Dad's standard P226, so when it came time I bought the P226 MK25, I'm a little partial to the MK25.

This is a true statement. Kinda like asking which corvette is the best the one with the 2 LT, 3 LT or 4 LT. They are basically the same car with a different trim selection.
