So I'm in a local pawn shop yesterday that's also a HUGE gun store, and they had a ****-ton of SIGs, but one in particular caught my eye.

It was DEFINITELY a P220 Carry model, with a beavertail, front cocking serrations, and rosewood grips.

I assumed it was a "Carry Elite" model, but it also had an engraving on the top of the slide that said "Blackjack" with a shield logo, and down one side of the frame between the slide and trigger/trigger guard it said, "Blackjack something something 1 of 500"

I can't find anything on this thing anywhere...

Thanks,

-Wes

Neither can I! That's why I posted on here....

GREAT looking weapon too.

Nope, sorry guys...

It says, "Blackjack" with a shield logo, no "Blackwater" w/bear paw....

Call the shop and get the serial number.

Then call Sig (603) 772-2302 (press #3 for Customer Service)

They will tell you all the info you want on that gun.

If I recall it comes from around 2000-2001 It was a Monthly special.

WOW man, that's tons of help, thanks for that!

Is this particular model rare? If so, how often do these pop up? Should I grab this thing, or...?

Okay.

So I just got off the phone with SIG.

After providing the serial number, I was givin the following info:

Built in December of 2009.

SIG P220 Carry Elite Dark platform.

P220 Rosewood grips.

SIGLITE® Night Sights.

Phosphorous something or other coated internals.

SIG SRT trigger.

Custom "Blackjack" engraved logo, and identifications.

1 of only 500 custom assembled.

Apparently without paying the $49.99 certificate, I won't know the exact date in Dec. of '09 it was built, or which exact number in the 500 of them built that it falls in.

He was also unable to tell me exactly who the company was that ordered these 500 weapons, only that it was NOT a private company, but a Security/L.E./Military company, "probably similar to Blackwater" were his words, not mine.

I think I found my next SIG purchase...

Gonna *hopefully* pick it up after work.....

Well I couldn't get there before they closed last night, so I'm gonna *try* to get over there today...

As for price, I'm gonna see what we can negotiate. They are ½ pawn shop after all...

I believe that Sig has made short runs of pistols for group buys, usually but, not always, of a military nature. Some of these are a combimation of various features found in other standard models. Many of these short runs ar also adorned with and indetifier such as the 'BlackJack' you describe.

I have no idea what the original costs would be and what the minimum run would be. I do know of an individual who was the recipient of one these special runs (military in nature)

I do not know if the 'special run' pistols would add any real resale value. They may, however, be of higher value to select groups. If it were me, I would not feel a need for the certificate, especially at $46. If the special run is of significance to you, the certificate may be of extra value to you.

HUH...

Well honestly it doesn't hold any real added value for me, but if it doesn't add any extra value to the pistol, should I even bother?

I can only speak for myself, I wouldn't. My opinion only!

The overall condition would be a more important factor than the certificate for me.

Ask your self a question: If most potential buyers are like you and are unaware that it even exists, what does that mean?

Outside of the Blackjack logo, it's really just a combination of features found on many other Sigs. If you can find someone who will gladly pay more, then you did well. I do not believe that a potential buyer will lay out an extra $46 for the certificate if they themselves can call Sig and get one on their own, that's if they feel it necessary.

Yeah, I get what your saying.

I was just thinking that I'd stumbled across something rare and unique is all....

-Wes

#22 ·
Gotcha.

Well, I think I'm gonna head on over there in about 10min or so to toss this bad boy on layaway.

Pics to follow!

I just got back. They were closed. Dammit!

I'm gonna have to head back over there tomorrow....

-Wes

Their loss, is my gain!

Your BlackJack Sig

Your BlackJack P220 was my unit's Operation Iraqi Freedom deployment pistol made to commemorate our deployment to Kirkuk Province, Iraq in 2009.

The P220 carry with custom engraving was offered to members of my unit, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, AKA, the "Black Jack" Brigade. I served as a scout platoon leader and executive officer in that unit during the deployment.

I was lucky enough to purchase one for myself and one for my father. I imagine one my fellow Troopers fell on hard times and had to let it go.
