I can't say that I've ever had the opportunity to fire a SIG rifle. We need pics of what you've got! I'll go create a thread to post them in within this forum.

I have the Sig 556 Swat - I'm enrolling in a defensive rifle course - I'll let you know how it goes. I really enjoy taking the 556 to the range.

SIG 556 ER (still don't know what the ER designation is for). LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT! I've only gotten to take it out a few times since purchased. Last week I was out with a buddy of mine who has been shooting all his life and he couldn't believe I've only shot a few rifles, only a handful of times. What's better, was his reaction after shooting my 556 for his first time. After a few shots to get used to the sight, he grinned ear to ear, saying how he couldn't believe how smooth is was and how amazingly accurate it was.

Accquired a sig 556 classic last week. I field stripped yesterday to clean out packing grease and do a test fire today, but unfortunately ran into a brick wall with the retainer stud in the bolt. This stud is literally seized up in the bolt with absolutely no movement. I soaked in CLP for a couple of hours to see if it needed more lube since it is out of the box new. I will be calling sig first thing monday morning. Hopefully a positive resolution out of cust svc.

I had a Bushmaster AR that wouldn't eat steel. I heard how rock solid the 556's were. Found a 556 patrol at a local gun show. Price wasn't the best but they threw in a free Stoplite so I bought it. Broke it in with 2 30rd mags of Federal Brass. After that shot around 200 rounds of 4 types of steel:Wolf, Herters, Tula, and some white box stuff. Besides one shell getting stuck in the chamber (case had a weird dimple in it, not the guns fault) she ran like a swiss watch! Even filled one mag with all 4 types of ammo. .55,.62,fmj, and hp. Shot as fast as I could pull the trigger! Never hiccuped. Awesome gun ![]() ![]() Needless to say I sold my crap Bushmaster and was going to buy a 516. Couldn't find one in stock so I found a 556R here locally brand new and under a $1k so I bought that instead. Can't wait to shoot it. I think they make a cute couple! Don't you? |
