MCX compatible magazines?
I am new to the SIG MCX and to AR15-type guns in general. I want to acquire some magazines beyond what came with my 5.56 MCX.
Are any AR15-type magazines generally compatible with MCX guns, or must I stick to the SIG brand of magazines?
If I can use other brands, what is a good brand?

I had a bunch of Magpul Gen3 mags for it but have switched to Lancer L5AWM mags. Love the construction, weight, and clear view of remaining rounds. Have experienced zero feed or drop problems after several hundred rounds.

I've not had any AR/STANAG magazines not fit the MCX. The one that it comes with is an aluminum piece of junk anyway (IMO). Magpul, Lancers, Troy, Hexmags, etc all work.

For fear of insulting the "Magazine Gods", magazines are considered expendable supplies by the military. I guess you can say the contract goes to the lowest bidder. That being said, not to say that maybe some "rejects" from Government contracts make their way to the public.
A lot of people malign the aluminum magazines as being "cheap". Well yes they in most cases, retail less than the Magpul PMAGs, and Lancer L5AWMs. "BUT" they can be "rebuilt" and adjusted. Even some of the Stainless steel magazines built on the aluminum specifications are good to go, and maybe more durable, but a little heavier.
Yes I have Magpul, and Lancer magazines, but I also have a lot of the "uncool" GI magazines loaded to the maximum, ready for whatever happens. Most of these magazines are over 30 years old, but I have got new chrome silicon springs in them that are resistant to taking a set in tension. I have the utmost confidence they will work when needed.
Remember, there may come a time, you can't order new ones, you may have to fix what you have!

GI mags are great as long as they have an anti-tilt follower. I own D&H, Okay, Magpul, Hexmag, Lancer, ASC, and few I can't remember. No problems other than an out of spec follower on a Magpul gen3 10 round.

I use Lancer L5AWM and never had and issue. I really like the metal feed lips with the polymer housing. Plus there is a company that sell 'rebuild' kits for us in CO
