Sweet - It deserves more than 2 exclamation points though. I'll be looking for a range report soon - Congrats! |

wow! $140. I've seen them for around $25. I'm sure they weren't as nice, but that's pricey! Thanks Walleye Wrangler, from Walleye country. | |

Here is a picture of my two SIG's. The 522 has a Magpul angled foregrip now. it says that my photo file is too big. so here a flickr picture of my 522 swat & 516 patrol http://www.flickr.com/photos/64749930@N07/5896426271/ |

I titled this photo "Home Grown". Vietnam era backpack/rucksack, military web belt and an AR. It's a Sig AR but the concept and idea behind the AR/M16 is American. |

My M400 I think the same guy that invented fashion accessories for women, also invented accessories for the AR-15. A couple more items and I will definitely be done.........................with THIS one ![]() ![]() |

I don't know how well it shows in the pictures, but it is Testors metallic gold. You're going to want to remove the grip, the stock, anything you don't want to inadvertently get the paint on. Use a good gun cleaner, alcohol, etc to get any oil from the roll stamped area. The next part is a little scary get a good artists soft bristle brush maybe 1/8 to 1/4 round head and slather it up. Be generous so it gets in all the recesses, but not so much that it is dripping off of the lower. Outside the lines is more than fine. At that point I take my finger and squeege as much off the surface as I can, wiping off my finger between swipes the harder you press the more paint that comes out of the letters, don't press hard enough and it takes longer to dry, is harder to clean etc, so that part will be up to you. You won't get it all, and there will be some surface residue, but that comes off later. After about 10-15 mins take a paper towel, or soft cloth (not terry cloth as you will sweep color out of the letters which we dont want to do) put some oderless mineral spirits on the towel ( damp not dripping) , and gently sweep the surface to remove the residue from the surface. Wipe until desired finish is achieved. You may take too much out the first time, its pretty much a trial and error thing. If you screw up, just clean it and start over. Note: The receiver may have a light gray appearance after you have cleaned the paint off, don't worry, you haven't ruined the finish. When everything is dry, give it a day, add some gun oil to the dry areas, let it soak in and rub it off it goes right back to its original finish. I added this because it happened to me the first time, and I thought I ruined my receiver. The mineral spirits just take all of the oil out of the porous finish. Disclaimer: I have used this procedure to successfully paint three different lowers without any problems. I am not a certified gun painter, and cannot guarantee you will not somehow screw it up, so this is just a recount of a method that I used to infill my rollstamping with color. Good Luck Pics of some other receivers I did. ![]() Last edited by jb2925; 07-09-2012 at 02:38 PM. |
