Looks like we are back to square one.
Me too. Their site sucks.

Luckily I have multiple 556s so I'm not too worried about parts, at least in terms of emergency situations. It would be nice to have more parts though . You can find complete guns that literally cost less than the parts in them added up. You are kind of screwed if you have the patrol model, due to gas system parts not being compatible with the 551 and standard 556. But at least the lower and bolt is interchangeable.

My patrol kind of sits as a spare, but I bought it new so it is nice to know that Sig either keeps enough parts on hand for warranty work or they'll just replace it if the time ever comes that parts are gone.

Moral of the story, enjoy your new 556s, use caution if buying used and make sure you have enough spare parts or extra guns.

Parts for the 556 are still around. It in fact was a topic of conversation a few days ago.
Really? A friend just had a frame crack on his 386 Mountain lite .357 (shooting .38 sp no less). That one is not made any more either and S&W replaced it with a 329pd.

Makes me wonder what S&W would do if anything ever happened to my favorites, a 4040pd and 1076.

I am eventually order the springs but will go to a gunsmith and have a couple of firing pins made.
CS rep gave me a list of parts they can get for me...

Recoil spring - SPRING-54
Extractor EXTRACTOR-5
Extractor pin PIN-18
Extractor spring SPRING-46
Firing pin FIRING-PIN-9
Firing pin spring SPRING-48
Gas valve GAS-VALVE-3
Safety detent 1511103-R
Safety plunger 1511101-R

Some are back order like you said, but going to place an order beginning of the week.

Going to take other's advice and get another AR that I can abuse. Honestly thinking about an MCX.

How many other people want an extra parts kit from what I listed in my previous post?

They will probably be happy to put together more kits and may be quicker to fulfill the back ordered ones if they can request higher quantities.
SRA and Guv like this.

I would be very interested. What is the total cost?

Sig told me that they were keeping all their spare parts for warranty work, that's it. I don't know if they're producing them anymore, maybe importing some. You can get a Wolff recoil spring for the 556. The others I don't know.

Thanks for posting those parts and numbers. Unfortunately the parts that were in the kit were only $24.99. You may be looking at triple that.

I have two additional ARs to abuse but the 556 was my first.

I am thinking I don't want to spend that much. Would like the parts in the kit though. My 556 has a very low round count and might just keep it that way.

Definitely going to keep mine. It shoots well and also has a very low round count.

I would just shoot it a bunch. I haven't heard of them breaking too often.

They are very reliable from what I have heard and been used in some of the most brutal environments for firearms. But, I have other rifles so no need to shoot this one too much. I installed the Troy battle rail and really think it's too heavy and not well balanced. When I have time I will switch back to the plastic handguard and sell the Troy.

Just got an email from MGW that the PKIT-556-SA-M4 is back in stock and I ordered one. Hopefully they really do have some.
