SIG MPX mags

Does anyone on this forum run SIG MPX gen1 with gen2 mags?

I have an MPX gen1, but I can only find gen2 mags, so I bought a few. I am told that they are interchangeable, but on some forums some people posted that they are not!

Unfortunately, I am still waiting for the license, so I cannot test myself... it might take 3-6 months to get a license down here... in the mean time I am collecting mags and other kit.

I have read use Gen 2's only with Gen 2's and the same for Gen 1's.
They are compatible but like Gens are more reliable together..
Gen 1's are cheaper to buy. Palmetto state armory has both for sale.
You tube link for Sig video of the differences.

wags9109, welcome to the Forum, only 1 small problem with that information, Pivot has a location of South Africa. Import/Export licenses needed at a minimum.

@wags, thanks for the reference... I contacted them, but they are not willing to ship to SA... no export permit.

On related note, I got MPX gen2 10-rd mag, but the floor plate doesn't want to slide/open, looks like it's sealed(?)
The MPX gen1 30-rd floor plate slides/opens easily. My Gen2 mag is stuck... any suggestions? I don't want to damage the hard polymer material.

I shoot Gen 1 and 2 mags in both the Pistol and Carbine versions. No issues, maybe lucky

So, while I am waiting for the license to take my MPX home, I went back to the shop to do a function check with the snap-caps.

I did dry-fire my MPX gen1 with the original gen1 mag. I dry-fired it, I cycled the firearm and the next snap-cap chambered successfully. I cycled it with multiple caps successfully.

I repeated the same function check with my snap caps using the gen2 mag and my MPX gen1 once again cycled flawlessly.

Well, this synthetic test might not prove the actual function, but at least I know that the gen2 mag fits the mag-well, locks in firmly and the firearm cycles snap-caps flawlessly.

If anyone has an actual experience with MPX gen1 and the mags gen2 I would greatly appreciate it.
