Sig 7.62 Ambidextrous charging handle

Hello everybody,

Does anyone know if there is a confirmed aftermarket ambidextrous charging handle available that will fit a Sig 716 rifle (7.62)? I tried the Ranier Arms Raptor for 7.62 and it fits sweetly into the groove but locks into place once the bolt is slid home and will not release or slide out at all. To get it out I had to disassemble the handle and bolt... so it is being returned today.

Thanks for any replies.

I am sort of lost here, not sure what you mean, the 716 is an AR platform rifle and the charging handle is in the back, which is ambidextrous

Not true. The Standard CH is ONLY activated on the left side, i.e for a right handed shooter. In order for a left handed shooter to use it, they have to reach across. When you charge with the weapon shouldered is primarily when this occurs, but pay attention to how often the weapon is charged with 1 finger hooked on the left side of the CH.

OK BUT the proper procedure is to use 2 (two) fingers to charge the firearm, so it is ambidextrous, however you do what you want, no matter to me.

I believe these folks can fix you up. 716 is listed as ambidextrous.

Thanks for all the replies. I talked to BTE and they confirm theirs will fit and work, but out of stock at the moment. Will order one and wait.

Did you have to fit it yourself?

This is from the Brownells Website, unless things have changed or this is the wrong item:

AR-15/M16 Gen 3 Ambidextrous Charging Handle 7.62 : BADGER ORDNANCE 308 AR GEN 3 AMBIDEXTROUS CHARGING HANDLE | Brownells

The 7.62 Gen 3 Ambidextrous Charging Handles from Badger Ordnance have an oversized design to provide easier manipulations. These charging handles allow for use of either the finger and thumb grip or the palm of the hand to be used to charge the rifle on both the strong and support side.

Will NOT fit DPMS Gen II, Colt 901, or SIG 716 Rifles.

Update 3/26/2017:

I've been checking the BTE website almost daily since Dec 2016 to order a Sig 716 Ambidextrous charging handle and have sent several messages to them via email. Even left two messages on their phone recorder without any reply back. The long standing message at bottom of their page (since 12/16) says the charging handle is in production and will be available soon... whatever that means. My many searches online have not turned up any other manufacturer's ambi charging handle that will work on a Sig 716 rifle.

Does anybody here know what's going on? Is BTE still in business?

Thanks.

I had the dame experience before! I called and left message many times I Ben emailed them multiple times so, I said what the heck I'm just gonna order it online from their website. Several days later it arrived on the mail and I was happy. Seems like they respond better with the orders and not by message.

I tried to order this last weekend and when I got to the checkout it told me they were not in stock and to check back later.
