Hi all, Went to the range today with my new Sig 522. Wow, awesome rifle, only on the 25m range but got thru a lot of ammo. She sure is hungry! I can't fault the rifle, put a couple of hundred rounds down range without a hitch. I was using up some Remmy Thunderbolts and some Gecos. What do you guys feed yout 522 on? Gonna try some Minimags next time. I got a Hawke red dot on, takes some getting used to after using scopes on my .22's. I'll be real interested to know your opinions on this rifle. ATB Neil. |

Minimags are my personal favorite. I've heard bad things about Thunderbolts, but if they are working for you, have at it. |

Minimags and Remington Golden bullets... Mine shoots far more accurately than I can shoot! I'm still learning to shoot rifles accurately, but I have two friends that have much more experience shooting rifles than me. We were at the pistol range after work, and at 25 yards my one buddy fired 5 rounds and left a one hole grouping about the size of a nickel. My other buddy then fired 5 rounds and left a one hole grouping about the size of less than a dime. My grouping size was about the size of a half dollar, but I was ecstatic to see that my 522 could perform as well as my friends did...

I put a Hawke red dot on my 522, thought it looked in keeping with the style of the rifle. The problem i'm having is not seeing a close enough picture of the target at 25m. I do'nt want to throw a 3-9x50 on it, maybe a real short scope would be ok so i'm wondering what optics you guys have on yours? I could do with a 4x optic of some kind i'm thinking. Thanks in anticipation. Neil. |
