Greetings all! Have been looking into purchasing an AR for the past 6 months and wanted a budget that would deliver quality. I was looking at Colt LE6940s until someone mentioned the Sig 5/716. I fell for the 7.62 immediately after checking her fine aesthetics and reading up on the piston system.

Put my order in for the 716 Patrol Gen2 just this morning!
For anyone that is looking to get one but has had issues finding one in-stock, Dean's Gun Shop in NC has them available for $1,810! Shipping available for only $9 UPS Ground. I called earlier in the week and he had 79 (78 now ^_^) so anyone looking for this weapon at an extremely good price (in comparison from other vendors, $2000++) I'd get one while you can. It does, with his word, come with the Magpul Stock and pistol grip.

Got my hands on a Pelican 1750 Case and a bore-snake too, should have all my goodies come Tuesday!

Glad to finally be aboard the SIG family and am looking to expand it in a few months.

Welcome to the forum! Great choice going with any Sig and the 716 in particular. My 716 should be here any time and I just (today - Saturday 20 July) found a Nikon M308 BDC for it and bought it. The gun shop in Tennessee had eight M308s. Good luck with your 716.

Thanks for the great welcome; it's great to see so many new owners of the 716 as well.

So far I went ahead and ordered a Pelican 1750 case and Silica Gel, Froglube CLP liquid, paste, and solvent, Outers 32 cleaning kit, Hoppe's BoreSnake, Tipton cleaning picks, and some Otis receiver brushes.

Should have all this in my hands on Tuesday!

Next up will be an optic

Thanks again for the welcoming vibes!

I SHOULD have it in my hands on Tuesday if they sent it out when I ordered it Thursday morning (NC to FL is only a 2 day transit via UPS Ground)

All my accessories get here today and tomorrow.

I just recently got a Gen2 SIG716 as a replacement for my Gen1. Clean it, lube it, work it.
Keep working it until you get that "new AR smell"

then Clean it, lube it, shoot it!

If anything goes wrong, stop shooting. Clean, lube, then shoot.
Yes, I hear a lot of people when they get it just break it down immediately and apply their own CLP. I have my heat gun ready!

No, I was craving an FDE but could not find one anywhere!! -- you will have to pay a pretty penny if you want one. I gave in just in case of any UNFORSEEN events compromising ownership and just wanted my hands on one. Could always paint it down the line? Iffy, but in the end it is just a color, just aesthetics I guess.

There was a delay between the shops transferring FFL paperwork and now my scheduled delivery date is Thursday. I'll be able to pick it up late afternoon that day, also in the process of buying a home is not fasciitating this process! :notfair:

As she sits currently. Degreased and frog lube application #1 complete. I'm shipping out the BCG in the next couple of days to Bicken Plating in WI to get it Nickel-Boron coated, and the receivers Cerakoted in FDE in the following weeks to a local spot in FL.

I will post a bigger thread of before and after pics of both coating projects. (With better quality pictures)

Anyone interested in the NiB coating, it is $110 for the entire BCG of a 716 and $95 for the 516 guys out there. I honestly believe it is an inexpensive investment and is very aesthetically pleasing when the bolt is closed.

Nice, I'll be following your work on this, reference Cerakoting the rifle in FDE. I'm holding out for a FDE vewrsion, but if it doesn't show, I'll be going the same route, only FDE in Gunkote. Cheers. BTW for me the pic is upside down?

I always wanted the FDE, but they just seem so scarce, and the money some of these wackos want for it ($2,300 minimum) is just silly. The Cerakote job along WITH painting the ACS stock will hover around the $200 mark.

And yeah, stupid iPad uploads them upside down, however when I clicked on the attachment in the post it brought it up normally. Sorry if yours are inverted.

hahaaa sorry, it is currently my only means of getting those up there, and, of course, it still had to incorporate some sort of complication (figures) :notfair:

I guess if anyone is really that interested then save the picture to your desktop and flip it around in the picture viewer.
