MPX Range Report

Went to the range to put a few rounds thru my MPX 9mm to zero in the Tru Glo red dot/laser sight. I shot 150 rounds of Remington UMC 115gr FMJ with ZERO malfunctions. The bolt stayed open after each clip was empty. Next I ran thru 50 rds of 147 FMJ subsonic re-loads. Once again operation was flawless with the exception of the bolt remaining closed on 2/3 clips when empty. Mine is a GEN-2 with a 62B serial number. I will be putting on a GEMTECH suppressor as soon as it gets out of ATF jail.

Nice! I have a gen 2, pistol version, my first range session with it was kind of frustrating because my magazines kept getting stuck (it's the fault of Kalifornia and the bullet button, not the gun). While the ambi mag release on the MPX is cool, it makes the bullet button more finicky.

When I wasn't cursing the mag release though, it was very fun shooting I hadn't put the sling or brace on mine yet, and was actually surprised how well it shot considering.

I'm envious you live in a state that allows you to acquire a suppressor. Post pics once you put it on!

Thanks, I'll post pics when I can. I did find that the mags (gen 2) need a firm smack to be seated properly (I seem to remember this from a few USAF M-9 and M-16 qualification courses over the years...)

I have the pistol version also, with a Romeo 4, and folding brace. Shoots where I aim, great pistol. I took off the cheekbrace that it had when I bought it.

Congratulations, I have an MPX Gen 2 in pistol variation (SBR applied for) -- bought it the end of June last year and have had zero issues with it...I just clean it after every range trip. She's a beauty...now if my Stamp only would get here...maybe another month..

Does anyone know why Sig elongated the feed lips on the magazine anyway? What issue was it supposed to address?

I thought it was to support .357 Sig and .40SW rounds (with a different follower).

Range Report

Went to the range today with MPX GEN II with AAC TiRant suppressor and "new" 30-rd GEN II magazines. New GEN II mags have been fully loaded for the past two weeks.

The first round was FTF with bolt release; pulled charging handle and second round FTF. Switched to a different "used" GEN II 30-rd mags and no FTF issues.

Reloaded the "new" magazine to 20-rd and had no issues. Then loaded to 30-rd and all was OK from that point further with 90 more rounds.

Took another "new" magazine and it was a FTF on bolt release, but did feed on cycling the charging handle. Repeated 20-rd loading previously described and had no further issues.

BOTTOM LINE: Don't trust any of these SIG magazines UNTIL you have dumped at least 2 magazines of rounds with no FTF issues. I have never had these types of problems with MAGPUL's 5.56mm mags.

Have all the problems that folks experienced with the Gen 1 MPX been resolved with the Gen 2 units? I was keen to get an MPX about a year ago but decided to hold off after hearing about all the issues that folks were having with it. So I'm very keen to find out if the problems have been fixed now. Thanks.

No, it's hit and miss. If I had to do it again, I would buy a Gen 1 over my Gen 2. Seems like all the Gen 1's eat everything while some of the Gen 2's (like mine) is picky on what to feed it.

Thanks my friend. That's a shame because it feels and looks like it should be a great and fun firearm to own and shoot.
