MPX - Price jump

I'm sure folks noticed but over the last few weeks the price of the MPX went up considerably. Was this known or stealthed?

The Sig website a couple weeks ago (like 2) had the MPX Pistol (Gen2) with an MSRP of $1500, that has since jumped to $1852. The same goes for the MPX-PSB, etc, etc.

My local Cabala's had the Gen 2 PSB listed on the shelf/website just a few weeks ago for $1650, now its $1899. Many online dealers had the MPX Pistol (Gen2) for around $1200, not now. Funny even if you see a low price on Slickguns you click on the link to the dealer and their website reflects a much higher price, not to mention "Out of Stock".

I paid just under $1200 for a Gen2 MPX Pistol on 12/31/16, and that dealer has since raised the price to $1599, which appears to be inline with more of his contemporaries.

I feel really lucky I didn't wait, but going back to my initial question, did folks know the increase was coming?

I figure since Sig up'd the MSRP its not just a case of dealers asking more due to the whole supply vs demand economics.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the replies. I get most companies will do some price adjusting from time to time but raising the price 23% seems a bit excessive even for Sig.

I'd love to know Sig's thoughts on why so much.

Regardless, I guess both old and recent MPX owners should smile and breath a collective sigh of relief as we got in before the gouge.

I'm with you on this one. I'd love to know the reason. Don't get me wrong, I really like my MPX with the SB tactical brace, but jumping from a MSRP of $1648 to $2084 seems excessive in my book. If people continue to buy the MPX at these inflated prices then it will bring more profit in for Sig, if sales tank then Sig will know they made a mistake.

I'm not sure if it's gouging or if maybe they had them initially priced to low to begin with. It's possible with the "teething" issues with the Sig MCX Bolt Carrier Assembly and the Sig MPX caliber conversions that will be coming out at some point they are trying to recoup some of their unanticipated costs from future purchasers. I will grant that it's hard to fathom firearms in the $1100 to $1700 initial price as being "too low".

My guess is they won't be backing off the $$$ accelerator anytime soon.

With the recent announcement of thier new military contract to supply the next sidearm (320 9mm) their already stressed production facilities will be even more so.

My guess is things that are not easy to find now will become even harder to find so when the supply goes down the price goes up.

Also as the MPX returns to Unicorn status I'd expect more and more dealers to offer less and less discounts off MSRP.

I would also hazard a guess that those barrel kits for the MPX just got a bit more expensive. Easy to charge more when the gun costs more.

Man I'm glad I got mine when I did. My dealer wanted off a pistol with brace last spring and I was in the 1200 range.
