Thinking of pulling the trigger on the 556R. Before I do I would like to hear from some owners of the rifle.

I have not seen much on them, are the reliable? How accurate are they, what size groups are you guys getting? Will the handle any of the metal case ammo that is still cheap to pick up?

How do you like yours, I'm looking at c model in the serial number, I heard the A & B had issues and the C has worked them out. Has it? Price is in the $1250 range, that about right? Is this the only rifle Sig has in the 7.62X39 round?

So, what have you guys got to say about the 556R? Pros & cons please as I would like to make an informed decision.

PS I love how ALLLLLL these guys pay 1250.00+ for this rifle then put a $300.00-$800.00 scope and a bunch of accessories on it brag , show pics, then ask....."WHERES THE CHEAPEST AMMO?" LMAO!

PS the ********* suarez is using factory Lapua for those 700 yard shots! This class of weapon has been ******* on for the longest time for lack of accuracy, and the biggest culprit is the GARBAGE ammo! 95% of 7.62x39 is steel cased ****!

Had my 556R since May. Put about 1,500 rounds (all TulAmmo FMJ 122gr) through it with no issues whatsoever. Not one! I am almost afraid of switching ammo because I have had such great performance and have herd some horror stories of other ammo (i.e. Wolf). But, with the "cheapo" stuff you must clean and lube. I took the paint off the bullseye at 50 yards with the stock "red dot" sight. Now have a nikon BDC 3-9x40 and the same lethal grouping at 100 yrds... Have yet to move beyond 100yrds.

I just ordered the Troy battle rail... I don't see much practicality of it other than it A) cooling the barrel and B) negating the loose rattling existing ones. So I will see how it looks and performs for a mighty $280.

Obviously just make sure you are getting the 2nd Gen. I think I paid $1,300 NIB.

The Gas Piston's probably Stainless Steel, but the Gas Tube itself likely isn't.

Not sure if anyone actually chrome - lines their Gas Tubes.
