Hi All,

How's your Sig 522 accuracy @ 25, 50 & 100 yards?

I really like my Sig 522 and I am curious because I have not been able to replicate with this rifle when I had a good range day with my M&P 15-22 with UTG 9x scope and put 5-10 rounds from each 10 round magazine into a 3" target @ 100 yds using CCI, Golden bullets, Fed Champion.

Before I had the chance to try I had to send in my 522 to Sig for repair. They had to replace the barrel because of the bent welded flash hider. I was able to do this at 25 & 50 yds with the original barrel with Nikon prostaff rimfire 9x scope.

Yesterday, with the new barrel I tried it at 100 yds, with 10? mph wind. I could only getting 1 - 2 rounds, spread out, in a 3" target. It was very frustrating.

Picture:
Each 3" targets were shot with 1 - 10 rounds mag @ 100 yds (top & bottom center & left & right center), and @ 50 yds (2 on left & 2 on right) with S&W M&P 15-22. The M&P 15-22 is a very good rifle, I like it a lot. But I like the looks of the Sig 522 better. And I am hoping it is a more accurate rifle, too. And hopefully, Sig didn't put another bad barrel... That is why I am hoping I can replicate this with my Sig 522. Although, I must say, it was a nice day and it wasn't windy that time. Then, again, it could be just beginner's luck..? :)

It's difficult to comment on someone elses rifle, and abilities, during any given shooting conditions. I can however comment based on personal experience with both the S&W 15-22 and the 522 HB Sig. I've owned both. I shot both considerable and there is no doubt the 522 is far and away more accurate, at any distance, period. In part I believe the metal upper is the key. It is far more rigid, where as the S&W composite upper is way to prone to flex.....My 522 benched, with a 4-16 scope, will easily hold under 3/4" at 50y and 1 1/2" at 100y, on demand in just about any 10mph wind conditions. Yours should also. I'd try some different ammo as it becomes available to you. As you surly know any .22 is usually pretty ammo specific, especially at 100y. For a mid grade ammo, I've found CCI standard vel. shoots excellent.....Getting use to the long let off on the trigger, and controlling the trigger may be where your problem lies. Concentrate on this aspect. The trigger spring can be lightened for much better results, search the Web and finally pay attention to the paralex on the scope.......good luck Plum
