Placing my order in the morning. Have a Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14x50 AO MC and Leapers UTG Max Strength LE Grade Quick Detach Rings already ordered for it.

Tough decision. Already have a great .308 target gun. Unfortunately for my wallet, I got a good deal on both the scope and the rifle and they just called to me.

I can eat again in a couple weeks.....:(

So Edsel - you ready to buy an SSG yet? Check this out:

Nosler Rep is a leftie - yes, that's an SSG3000.

Watch the video [it's about Nosler Custom Match Ammo] here:;)

I just might...

AI's taking forever to come out with a lefty.

Well, looks like I'm ready to head to the range with the SSG to dial in the scope.

May not look it in the **** photo, but the scope is dead nuts level and ready to go.

I have. My eyes are far more important than shooting a rifle is.....;)

You have no idea how hard it's been to avoid mounting the scope. As expected, my initial instinct is the haul *** to the range - today!

First post, been lurking to see what everybody is thinking of the SSG3000. Looks like it is a winner, so I decided to order one for my self. This will be my first precision rifle, second to my savage model 12 in 22-250 that will shoot sub moa out to 300m. What are your thoughts of the 0moa pic rail, should a guy go with a 20moa uni mount or just stick to some good rings. Would lik to get out to 1000 eventually with this rifle.

Welcome to SigTalk.

Personally, I like the rail. However, it's hard to really answer your question without knowing what scope you're considering for it. If you buy enough scope, I think the 0MOA rail is just fine. I ran a couple scopes on mine and decided I needed more than I had.

Started with a Zeiss 4.5-15X50, then a Vortex 6-24X50 and finally landed on the Burris 8-40X50 F-Class FFP you see here. Unfortunately, recent eye surgery and still restricted from hi-power so I haven't shot it yet. I did laser sight it and have played with the scope enough the I can tell you it's very bright, very sharp and very clear.

I'm using the Burris 34mm Steel Rings.

Added: The eye surgeon initially released me to shoot hi-power. Before I had a chance to shoot, I had a minor problem. Called the Surgeon and he referred me to my local optometrist [the one that sent me to the surgeon] to check it out. Dr. Pope sent the results of the exam out and called me to restrict me from exercise, shooting, heavy lifting - you get the idea - again.

Howdy Steve, I've been kinda following along here with this thread and it's almost a month since your last post. I hope everything is going well for you and you will be able to get back "behind the gun". I've had my rifle now for about 2 months and have not been able to do much with it due to my work schedule. I have only shot 5 rounds with it so far and I was amazed at the accuracy right out of the box. I'm really looking forward to settling down and working up some loads just to see what this bad boy can really do. Hopefully I'll be able to get some shooting results soon.
All the best,
Keith

Going pretty well, thanks. I can shoot handguns but they don't what the recoil shock on my shoulder from hi-power yet. Personally, I think I'm doing just fine - but I'm listening to the specialists. I don't want to go through any part of this again. If you have to - I have the best - but geez, no fun.

What scope you using?

My Vortex isn't a FFP. The Burris I have is. 24X wasn't as much as I wanted. The plan for the SSG is F class moving out to 1000. 24X is a bit light at that range. Also more elevation and windage to play with in a 34mm tube.

Really can't make that kind of comparison - two different barrels, Savage rate of twist is 1 in 10 - SSG3000 rate of twist is 1 in 11.

What I can tell you is, for me in .308, a longer barrel means slightly higher Mv - which, for me, translates to slightly less holdover and windage correction at longer ranges.

In this case though, I have had some health issues [noted earlier] that have kept me off the range - let alone allowed me to go to the Wittington Center for a day. That's the only range I know of here in NM that can go loooonnng!
