Any recommendations for a sling setup for my 556 Patrol? I don't want a single point system, that much I know, but beyond that I'm not sure. Right now I'm running completely factory but I am considering adding a light/laser combo on the righthand side at some point. BTW, I still haven't found a replacement grip. I purchased a Tapco SAW grip but there was no way that was going to fit. I couldn't find anything from Magpul that is a drop-in. |

As far as slings go, I would go with a Viking Tactics padded sling. I have a magpul MS2, and I like it, but I like the simplicity of a 2 point sling, and they can be equally effective in non-standard positions if you practice with it. 2 points definitely don't offer the same freedom of motion that a single point offers. As with everything, there are trade offs.

My MagPul MS2 works great. I have it attached as a single point sling. I've made myself use it when I go to the range.

I recommend the Savvy Sniper. Check out his videos, the quality is tops, and customer service is excellent. JB Savvy Sniper |

I have ordered the Blackhawk dieter cqd sling. http://www.blackhawk.com/product/Die...T,154,1342.htm I had a conversation with my cousin in the military and asked him about 1 point, 2 point, and 3 point slings. He said, "Your not on guard duty so I don't think you want a 1 point sling. You want a sling to help you carry the weapon, so 2 point or even 3 point." I do not do tactical competitions, I just want something in case I am out carrying the rifle for an extended period of time. Thus, the 2 point sling. |

Just recently picked up the Blackhawk universal sling, and it offers a 2-point or 3-point configuration via a special buckle that can be adjusted on the fly. Honestly, I like it best with the 2-point config because it's secure and can be easily moved from front to back or from left to right as the occasion changes. I can also use it in an emergency to fire one-handed, if need be. It really fits my carry style best, especially in conjunction with my cross-shoulder sling bag. Cost me about $33 at a local sporting goods store. |
