I've seen some guys call this gun heavy. Really? If it is, it's very nicely balanced.
Can't wait to get her out to the range.

Congrats. I know the feeling when you get a new toy. It's always fun to get them dirty for the first time.

Actually don't even own a camera, other than the one in my phone.

BUT ... WE HAVE A PROBLEM

Diopter sight is totally stuck in one position, the 100m. Frozen. The elevation knob/plate beneath it, equally locked up. Both are supposed to be hand-turnable, no tools needed.

Haven't touched 'em with anything but me mitts. Was just just checking the different pictures through the diopter, and that's it ... thing went on self-ordained lockdown. Baffling. Will have to call Sig in the morning, I guess.

I would shoot a little penetrating oil on the frozen up section and see if you can get it to loosen up. I know, crappy to have to do on a new rifle, but it might help.

You are a wise man, sir. Took it off the rail and shot it with some Ballistol last night and went to bed. This morning, blew out the excess with some compressed air and, voila, it was clicking into place as it should. I don't think the poor thing and had ever seen a drop of oil in its life; was dry as a bone and just bound up.

Anyway, will try to get to range this weekend, family obligations allowing. I'll run these sights just to see how things go, but I'll need some optics eventually. My 48-year-old eyes seem to struggle with these.

Range will yield the final verdict, but I'm still feeling good about this buy. I am not a .223 or black rifle aficionado, was just looking for a good buy on a quality centerfire that shoots something I can afford. I already play plenty with shotguns, handguns and .22 LRs. Got the cased NIB rifle, 7 mags total and a sling to my dealer's door at less than $1,700.

There seem to be some folks on other boards kind of upset about this rifle's "genuineness," so to speak, or wanting to make a big deal of the rock-in style Swiss mags, or the fact it's made in Exeter or whatnot. Hey, I'm no tactical operator. If I get a reliable rifle out of the deal and it shoots decently and has good ergonomics, I'll be happy as a clam.

Thanks. Shoot well and have a nice holiday weekend.

Picked up a Tru Glow 2x by 42mm with 2.5 MOA red dot. I've read decent things about 'em, and didn't want to start out too expensive, as this is my first run in the world of .223s and fast-acquisition optics.

I bought a 1" riser rail, too, but it turns out I didn't need it. That sight and the factory ones co-witnessed easy as pie. Great picture ... but that's just around the house. One more day of work, then I should be able to get in some range time and find out how she shoots. One nice thing, I have no problem keeping both eyes open. Should help when using the little scope/sight. I'll just stow the riser rail; I'm sure it will come in handy someday with one project or another.

Time ... it needs it go by faster for one day or thereabouts so I can get to the range!
