Anybody here have a chance to purchase or shoot the new MCX rifle yet, looks super cool and would be interested in your feed back.

Talked to a dealer tonight and his information is consistent with what folks have posted. Single barrel 556's.

Talked with a gentleman at Top Gun on Friday and he wasn't aware they had started to ship (MCX) and then talked to a local gun shop who had on line access to 10 units today - Saturday, and quoted a price of $1650., which I didn't think was awful.

I have come across an MPX-P in 9mm at my local gun store. I asked about the rifle version in 9mm but they have no info at all. I thought about buying the MPX-P in 9mm and waiting for Sig to release a 16" barrel and folding stock. I was told the MPX-P could not have a forward grip or stock but if I had a 16" barrel, a folding stock should be legal? Any thoughts?

call me the BETA tester.. this is my HORRIFYING journey with the new MCX
with all things glorious I decided I wanted the "cool" rifle while I'm back from deployment. Went to my local Cabela's and seen the MCX rifle, asked how much?? it was $2100 out the door with tax. It came with the 300blk barrel installed and a spare 5.56 barrel on the side. I asked the salesman for others in stock so I figure i get the special serial number of #762 wha, 300 blk 762 cmon' you get it right? Hell I even walked away with Sig Sauer branded 300blk ammo 4 boxes worth.

Brought it home then went to customizing my new toy. BCM grips, Geissele trigger, Noveske Ambi selector, and a BattleComp BABC I had laying around. Went to town installing the parts being a badass that I am, I work on my own stuff unless it requires machining. Since the barrel is tappered I went to a local smith and had them cut the BABC to match the taper of the barrel shown in the pics attached. Ya this thing is unbelievably light and featured the newest "gas piston" which doesn't need switching for unsuppressed and suppressed firing. The following day I planned to zero/check zero of the new MCX.

Rangetime: All those parts installed, new rifle only factory test fired. Loaded a PMAG with the Sig 300blk ammo. IRONS who needs magnified optics right? BANG... ALRIGHT first one went off without a hitch. BANG... Im starting to like this rifle for balance and low recoil.. CLICK... now ***. A brand new rifle f* already just my luck.. Alright time to clear and make the firearm safe. I dump the magazine but the BCG is stuck forward with the bolt still in feed ramp area. GREAT EITHER GOT A SQUIB OR A LIVE ROUND STUCK. RANGE DAY OVER . 2 shots and I packed my things up very very ****** off

Went to my local Smith told them my story and warned them I wasn't sure about what could be stuck. They took it to the back and removed the "bullet" that was stuck in the barrel told me it was a squib. I asked for the cartridge assembly removed for evidence, paid my removal fees and went home to call SIG CS.. I explained my whole situation and Sig CS sent me a label, shipped out the rifle with all the parts barrel, magazine, etc. the following day.

This is where it gets AMAZING... ya everyone says CS is great. I got picked to head back out to the sandbox again so I have a rifle at Sigs "Custom shop" getting repairs and told it will take 4-6 weeks for repairs. Cool it will be the house in no time. Rifle arrived to NH Sig factory 5/13/15... 1 month passed I emailed my CS rep no updates.. 2 months 8 WEEKS, nothing I called 3 different times to the shop with still no update.. OK NO BIGGIE, not like I got to play with my new banger when I first got it anyways... 3 MONTHS 12 weeks in come along finally an update AFTER I CALL IN AGITATED, here is my response via email "we are in the process of changing the gas block to a new design." ALRIGHT GONNA GET MY RIFLE IN 4-6 WEEKS cause that's what was quoted for the 300blk upper the 556 barrel is ready to go... NOPE

WEEK 14 I GET A EMAIL THE WHOLE RIFLE IS BEING REPLACED. now where the hell did it go from we are changing the upper to now I'm getting a completely new rifle.
shet I already invested alot of time waiting for this POS, screw it Ill see how the new MCX holds up. BETA TEST 2.0 HERE WE GO

I been really patient with this whole CS and Custom shop but to me 3 months is a damn long time. Its a production gun not no "one off rifle" When I do get the new rifle shipped I'll have it test/checked cause I'm not home to enjoy the new paperweight EVERYONE SAID WAS GONNA BE THE GAME CHANGER AT SHOT SHOW FOR MODULARITY. pictures attached is of the squib, bolt stuck in the forward position and the parts I installed. Look at a previous post for the lower pic.

Another update will be written once the new rifle gets in and my brother takes it out to make sure it works FOR REAL THIS TIME SIG DON'T LET ME DOWN .. Don't call me a Sig hater ain't no one got time for that drama on this forum. I ❤ Sig Sauer and have multiple Sigs both handguns and rifles. So no keyboard commando's be HATING ON THE TRUTH. Pics/emails don't lie homie . For whoever sends their MCX on "warranty repairs" YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED HAHAHAHA

Update

This is the most current production MCX, gen 2 that Sig has replaced my original gen 1 MCX with. Straight out of the box, here we go again with the problems.

Conditions: 50yd target, 80deg outdoor temp
Ammo: Remington UMC 220gr 300 blackout
Gas setting on "Normal"
Factory setup up no modifications other than scope..

Jams on certain magazines:
GI.. GTG
HK maritime.. GTG
Lancer.. GTG
Magpul 30/40rd.. FAILURE
Surefire 60rd.. FAILURE.

*Could not do rapid shots to see if rifle was cycling with double taps. Balance of rifle has changed, Scope mounted is Nightforce NXS 2.5-10x24 with LT-104 mount.

Anyone else have these magazine problems with their MCX? I will call Sig to see what they want to do.

Bottom line,......that sucks. I think it is pretty clear by now the Cabela's guns were indeed beta guns and something turned up bad. So it took 3+ months to get a design and manufacturing up to speed.

I'd be curious to hear what those who have served and know what is actually needed in this kind of weapon think of the design.....

My LGS had several of the newer MCX carbines in 5.56 available at $1,600. They flew out the door, so none are currently available.

The MCXs are light, compact and have heavy triggers. The foldable stock is metal and does not have a cheek rest. The metal stock may freeze the shooter's cheek in our winters. If SIG plans on selling these to law enforcement, they will need a cheek rest that is durable and does not freeze the shooter.

After my extremely positive experience with my MPX, I decided to put a new MCX in 5.56 on layaway, pick it up in November after my down range trip to the desert. Going to drop a Geissele SD-C in it, one of my favorite triggers as the stock trigger feels a bit too heavy for my taste.

The Shot Show had them in FDE (Flat Dark Earth), but the Sig Sauer site only has them in black. Anyone have any idea if they are going to offer them in the FDE also?
