Hello all, New member here from N. Carolina. Picked up a new SIG 516 Patrol 2 weeks ago. Have been out to sight it in and shoot only once so far. Put 110 rounds through it and it's really a sweet gun. This is my first AR, and first time with hands on one since basic training 20 yrs ago....so I've got a bit of brushing up to do. Hopefully this forum will provide a good avenue to do just that. Here are some pictures. I've recently added the SIG 'StopLite' which can be seen in the first video. (links removed, see range video thread) Comments welcome. Thanks, Dan ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Welcome to SIG Talk! We are glad to have you. I believe you are our first member with a 516. Several 556 owners though, including myself. |

Thanks for the welcome.........first 516 member? Well, if anyone needs something specific regarding the 516 I'd be glad to help. Like I mentioned earlier, I've only put 110 rounds though it. Some Fiocchi ballistic tip 40? gr and I tried some el'cheapo Tulammo (Russian steel case) from Wally World.......no issues (wasn't expecting any from the Fiocchi). I took the gun apart after the 110 rounds....it was pretty darn clean...in fact, super clean. I've read recommendations that stated no cleaning necessary until 700-1000 rounds....but I doubt I'll do that....it's too easy (and fun) to just clean it up right. Looking forward to getting to the range this weekend (weather permitting) and hopefully doing some better videos. Thanks again, Dan |

Thanks for the welcomes. I just ordered some MAGPUL front/rear flip up BUIS, some of the MAGPUL modular rail covers and a few MAGPUL polymer window style 30 rd mags....the only other thing I'm considering is a bipod, but not to familiar with them, specifically I'm wondering if it will interfere with the StopLite. I'm assuming whatever mount is required for the bipod stays on the rail, and the legs detach when not in use? Sure would make range days more accurate! Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks in advance. -Dan |
