Someone needs to figure out a group buy on a barrel custom made by like adco or something. A boatload of people would jump on this. Including myself.

Source? My P226 and P220 threaded barrels were both $235ish before 20% discount. I'd buy a factory MPX barrel in 4.5 for $400 minus 20% discount. Would be nice to have 4.5 for K variant and turn my 8" in to an integrally suppressed barrel..

A pistol barrel is nowhere close to the same complexity as the MPX barrel ASSEMBLY. MPX barrels have a trunion and tappet system installed. I was told $400 from Rich, the brand manager at SIG.

My point exactly.. If they are charging $230 +/- for a pistol barrel, $400 for MPX barrel does not seem unreasonable although in the multi-page MPX thread on sigforun someone claims to have called Sig and inquire on the 4.5" barrel and claim they were quoted $327. $327 with the 20% discount seems very reasonable IMO.

I called Sig this morning and they wouldn't sell me a MPX barrel. They did, however, sell me a gen 2 Essentials kit.

How much did that set you back? Is it just a gen 2 upper?

I'm a little late to this party, but I was interested in hearing about the functionality of the barrel chops. I'm running an 8" with a Ti-rant 9 can and it seems like some of the "subs" are running hot cause I think I am hearing a super crack and am interested to cut the barrel down to 4.5" to drop the velocities on some of these rounds that are riding the line between super and sub. How are you guys liking the chopped barrels? And has anyone played with the valve to reduce the amout of blowback?

The Essentials kit consists of three magazines and a magazine pouch.

The cut barrel looks great! Does cutting the barrel change the gas system?

Sent mine to Adco. Gonna be $195 to chop my 16" down to 9". And they have to add an adapter in order to have the same diameter and taper of the oem sig barrel. Otherwise it would be $145. They said I won't even notice the adapter. I'll post pics in my thread once I get it.

Just got mine back from Class 3 Machining in Texas last week, chopped from 8" down to 4.5" and rethreaded to 1/2x28, sent out on a Thursday and received back the following Friday! $75 and couldn't be happier with the customer service, end product and especially the cost!

Did you just pull the barrel and send it in? Or any other work involved? I have yet to pull my barrel. I need to do that So I know what I need to send/take apart like has port on there or something.

Well I apparently fell for the marketing LOL Just ordered an MPX, planned on putting the 4.5" barrel on my 8" and tucking a can in like many of you have done. Called up Sig to order a 4.5" barrel and they will gladly take my order but have no clue when they are coming... oh.. and its $599!!?!?! ***. I told the guy that was literally half of what I paid for the gun.

Anyhow is cutting down the only option right now? No aftermarket I'm assuming from what I can find?

Thanks guys!
