Just saw this on SIG USA's website.

Different stock, (longer) rails, gas block further in front?

Preferred the older look, actually.

At this point, even if I had a SIG 716 with a barrel longer than 16" on my lap, I'll still say it's vaporware.

I've been conditioned to do so for almost one and a half years!

I prefer the older version.
I'm glad I bought my Sig716fde when I did because they changed that also.

716 DMR cofig

I got the same email.
I have two DMR's that arrived this week via LEO pre order. They are configured like the picture on the bottom, not the email picture. The web page is correct. I posted the range target data for both rifles on another forum thread if interested. Impressive.

I think the older style with the PRS stock is actually a 20" barrel, The one they had on their site when I ordered mine was the exact rifle you are showing now but had the PRS stock on it, They just changed to the one you are listing now. I figured the PRS stock would balance the rifle better but in all the reading I have done they say the UBR actually does a better job. Oh well at least it is finally happening.

I just got my 716dmr about a week ago. It was IOP order from over a year ago (order actually was for precision marksman). To make a long story short, after much run around I got the DMR. 18" match barrel, ubr magpul stock, threaded barrel, Geisel trigger. Weather has not cooperated so I have not shot it. Now I have this stupid cold or what ever and I'm not sure when I'll get to the range.
To make it really interesting it's my first AR type rifle but I did not think I wanted an entry level, so here I am.
I am curious what weight bullet I should use. I have had time to stock up on a small variety of different weights/brands. I'll be stuck with iron sights for a while.
Hope this info helps clear some of the mystery about the DMR being vapor ware!
Richard
Edit: Harris bypod also

Thanks Edsel and Cadguy,
Heavy and wet seem to be the way to go. I do not reload and 145 to 150gr bullets seem to be the easiest to find but I have some 165 or 168 gr and maybe some heavier ones. I'll look for them to use first. Interestingly, the test target sheet that the factory included used Federal 124gr.
Lewdog, the picture is for you! Sorry my phone does not take good pictures.

Just to give you an idea...

This is how greasy and oily my rifles were.

I'm not sure if this practice is recommended or even safe, but my casings haven't had any signs of overpressure, and the interior of my upper receivers look brand new.

It's one of those "your mileage may vary" ideas that seems to have worked.

My 556R, just as an illustration...

Just received an e-mail today from Sig, The PMR with the PRS stock on it supposedly was never released to anyone except a few went to military and special police units and has sense been canceled. The DMR is not the same in any way it is a totally new rifle and has only been produced since the beginning of Apr 2014. They say test results with 185 grn Lapua are very good with less than 1/2" MOA at 100 yds. There is a write up about this rifle in Tactical Weapons to be displayed until May 19th, Very good results according to review article hits 800yd gong all day.

Yes Im still waiting but another guy just got his after 5 month and Im at 4 months so I hope to see it before long. Good luck with the baby being a Father is about the best gift you can receive until you become a Grandfather that is, That's even better I can spoil the heck out of them then send em home. Yea Sig will be happy when I get my rifle they are probably tired of hearing from me. They have been patient and have answered all my questions.

Yea who knows I think at times they just tell you something, The guy I talked to because I asked him if 3gun was the same because I could get my hands on a 3gun, He said absolutely not because I thought they were the same just different butt stock and hand grip, He said no the barrel, trigger, and rail were different. I guess without the two side by side I cant tell I thought they were the same.

But I had one guy tell me in March that he was holding a DMR and it came with PRS stock. So Im not going to say youre wrong, Im just repeating what I was told. To my eye I agree they look the same except for the obvious. Im sure they both shoot very well. I would be happy with either at this point.
One thing for sure the PRS stock is a no. I still think its more of a solid stock, but what do I know.

Of course there is. I just got my DMR. But as the test target indicated a .34" group at 100 meters I think this one will shoot accurately enough to live up to it's billing as a Designated Marksman Rifle. Now will it be the Valdada 1.5-8x26 35mm FFP Mil Mil, or if I sell something maybe the dual reticle 1-10x26 35mm Eliminator with CQB and long range reticles?

My Patrol says H2, my DMR is unmarked. I'll have to weigh it.

As for people not liking this or that about the new DMR, and saying they might bail and get an M1A: You will likely need to do a lot of sweet talking to that M1A to get it to shoot as good as an out of the box DMR. Virtually EVERY system on the M1A has to be fiddled with. Just like a Garand. Sold the M1A, still have the Garand Race Gun.

I just got really lucky and acquired a Rare (NIB) Sig Sauer 716 Precision Marksman Rifle. This is the Real Deal and not the 18" barrel model Sig 716 DMR or 3-Gun-Heavy versions. This is the Sig 716 Precision Marksman Rifle that came straight from the Sig Pro Shop when a hand full of them were released last year. This Sig 716 PMR looks like the 3-Gun-Heavy but has some differences. It has a different style Firing Pin, it has a Bayonet Lug, it has a longer Piston assembly and it has a different type of barrel. The Barrel has flats on it towards the bottom and it has a different barrel twist rate. This has a Heavy Match Barrel with a 1x11 Twist instead of the 1x10 Twist Rate that the DMR and 3-Gun-Heavy have. The factory box is marked R716-H20B-PRM 7.62 NATO, PRM, SEMI, 20 IN

I was told that only 20 of these were released before Sig decided to go with the 18" barrel DMR version.

Anyone else have one of these?
This is definitely interesting...

20" barrel, older design.

The attached .png picture files are converted from the .pdf brochure SIG once had on the web site before the 716 Precision Marksman was supposed to have been available. To my knowledge this gun never made it to market. The folks I spoke with at SIG SAUER Academy said that SIG was not happy with the performance of the 20" barrel and were going to re-engineer the rifle with a 18" barrel. At least that is what I remember, right or wrong, from the 2011 and/or 2012 time period.

Snipers hide has moved to scout as your link has suggested and is no longer active in tapatalk. Frank is working with the site to see if tapatalk can be added. Also if you have an account at snipershide that info was transferred over. Usernames may already be taken but at least your new username will have your profile and posts from past.

I called Sig and spoke to one of their Specialists and had them check the serial number to confirm barrel twist rate thru book keeping and he told me that this one has a 1x11" Twist barrel and it is a CHF Heavy Match Barrel. He also told me that there were only 20 of these released last year thru connections in the Pro Shop. And he also told me that you had to know someone in the Pro Shop to even get one of these Rare Sniper Rifles.

I called Sig again a week later and spoke to another Customer Rep and this guy said that there were less than 10 of these Sig 716 Precision Marksman Rifles that were released before they decided to go with the 18" barreled version called the DMR.

Is there any other Hide members out there that have one of these Rare Sig 716 Precision Marksman Rifles? Or do you know anyone that has one? I have been into Sig rifles for years and I have never seen another one out there besides mine.

I guess I have a Unicorn here.

Here is some Eye Candy.
