Me too, hell not even a 20" barrel!!!!, looks like no suppressor, just capped and threaded(yu hope its threaded in case yu would like to install a break or suppressor) oh well glad I bought the patrol instead, I would have liked to buy a 20 inch barrel and install it and have myself the option of being able to extend its capabilities a bit further.
Is it possible to install another manufacturers 20 inch barrel on our guns, or is our barrel some what proprietary, I was thinking since its milspec we should be good to go,any one know any details on something like swapping barrels out? LWRC,POF,LaRUE come to mind for 20" barrels.

There's something about a proprietary barrel retaining pin or bolt - can't remember if it was posted on this Forum.
I don't physically have my SIG 716 yet, so I really can't say...
And I have no frame of reference since it'll be (one of) my first firearm(s).
My mind's still locked into the idea that 7.62 / .308 rifles should only have 20 - 24" barrels, and I'm still having difficulty wrapping my head around this (relatively) short barrel "Patrol" concept.
I'm obsessive about preserving my sight and hearing, and shudder to think what the muzzle blast would be like - it almost makes me want to install a suppressor from the get - go.
Regarding the rails, let me take that thing about the length back... I'm not sure what the proportions are.
The newer one has 12 slots end to end, while the older one has 13.
I guess the best way to ascertain the length of the rails would be to count the number of Picatinny grooves... But I've somewhat lost interest in the rifle at this point.
I preferred the older version as well. I thought the 20" barrel would have been ideal since my bolt gun also has a 20" barrel. The "dope" would have been nearly the same.
Also, now there is no mention of the barrel being "match grade" and the stock has changed from the Magpul PRS to the UBR. I Don't think the UBR stock is adjustable for comb height.
The end of the barrel appears to be threaded in the pics, but that is not specifially stated. I sure hope it is, as I was intending to mount a flash hider with suppressor lugs on my SIG716 (if I ever get one now). I have had one on "pre-order" since October. I already bought ten Magpul PMAGs for it. I hope I get to use them.
Miad grip, geissele trigger, and UBR! Ill take the new style. I'm a fan of 18" barrels anyway. For me this would be more of a 4-500yd rifle, my remington 700 is built for 800+
Word from my dealer is that they will start shipping in late October. Mine has been on order since January. SHOT Show video on YouTube got my hopes up. You would think the project manager would have an accurate estimate of when they will start shipping. Guess not.
I'm confused now Like I said my LGS ordered me one but they said the 3 gun was no longer available. They showed me a picture of the one you all are saying is the old model. The one you are showing is the 20" version. The one my LGS is showing looks like that only its a 18" version. Im going to have to go back and find out what is going on. The butt stock on the old model is what I want only with a 18" barrel. I called Sig they also said the 3 gun isn't made any more. Its the DM now. Guess I will have to wait and see. I guess there could be some more 3 gun models that haven't sold yet.????
I noticed that Sig's website was recently updated in the last week or so. What was the "Precision Marksman" appears to now be the "716 DPM". Newly added is the "3 Gun Heavy". I'm not sure what the differences between these two other than the stock.
I want a Precision Marksman (or whatever they are calling them), but I can't seem to get a straight answer on availability. I'd love to find one of the older ones with the 20" tube and target buttstock.
Looks like 516s are now Gen 3 versions. Not sure what all is different, but the side rails and gas block area have clearly changed.
went to lgs today supposedly I have on order the R716-H18B-PRM in a 18" so was also told it is out of stock at the moment excepted to be back in stock in2/14 so guess its a wait and see. They also supposedly have the R716-H18B-DM I would take either but prefer the PRM if available
