| 5.56 & .223 Ammo Craze
So I was just scouring the web for ammo/brass etc. As we all know everything is basically gone. no more $350 per 1000rds... but - am I wrong to think the ammo sellout is unwarranted? if a ban goes into effect they would potentially ban the AW's & the HC mags right? they wouldnt ban the ammo too right? So doesnt that mean even if the ban takes place the ammo supply should get back to where it was pre election/pre massacre? this panic buying by folks is crazy |

In the past several years I've yet to see prices drop on ammo and I don't see them going down given the number of new gun owners and more people stockpiling in the future when inventories become available again.

This happened when the original AWB was lifted. There was a mad rush on the ammo especially 5.56/.223.

Well I cant imagine people will continue to stockpile ammo for their new AR or whatever AW they got before a potential ban. Maybe initially...but I think the manufactures will create another surplus in no time. atleast I hope so... ptco911-do you remember how long it took to stabilize when it happened then? It'll be a few months, probably March, before we see the market stabilize and ammo supplies get back to normal.

I pray you are correct but the history of the last 20 years is against ya. Frankly I do not expect to EVER see a surplus again of reasonable prices no matter what happens. | |

I wish you kids would quit posting nonsense about a ban and instead educate yourselves. There will be no ban. The variables that existed in '94 that allowed it to happen do not exist today. Get it through your head. Use a hammer and pound it in if necessary. There will be no ban. Prices for both guns and ammo will return to their pre December 14 price by April.

Give a little here - give a little there and pretty soon you'll be giving your life blood. Hell no to all of this shit! People need to get this damned "BAN/ASSAULT" shit out of their vocabulary. Start passing out the "Second Amendment" and the "Dick Act of 1902". Read it, live it, and pass it along.

I remember right after the last prezzie election when obama was voted in. the prices of ammo and stuff went way up then too. I have a really decent reloader that lives near me and I like to buy from him. he said just to be patient for a while and let the dust settle. that the prices should come back down and they did ... wonder if it will be the same way this year too

They can keep the ammo for that price. Thats just silly. We will see but I would say after june prices will be back down. Its like gas they will come back down but more than likely will be .5 or .10 cents higher per round.

I took the Family to the last night for Glendale Glitters, it's a big thing in the Valley every holiday season. Well we drove past Cabelas in Glendale Arizona and I noticed that not only were they open, the parking lot was full. I told (Begged to let me stop inside) my wife I was going inside for a few minutes and she didn't give me any lip so I went inside while the family stayed in the car. Well that ammo shelves for .223 and 5.56 were all sold out except for 2 boxes of expensive Hornady .223 55 Grain Zombie Max ammo and there was another man looking at them. Just as he was reaching in I leaned in a little and snatched up both boxes and then to try to show that I was looking at everything ( I Wasn't) I grabbed a box of .223 WSWM ABCDEFJKLMNOPQRS Etc. ammo. Wow, I am so glad I opened the box to see the difference and I must say that .223 WSM or what ever, is not just a standard .223, it is the obese older brother to the one that joined the Army. Like that older brother, there aint no way that stuff is going to ever fit in my rifle with out a barrel change. Well the total cost of both boxes of Zombie Max was $43 dollars with .45 cents credit from my loyalty account. Grab it when you can. At least I feel better about shooting some of my cheap ammo now that I have some defense ammo that will at least protect my family from perhaps 40 zombies or more if my aim is true and I get lucky with the shrapnel. |

Thats like my local store Shoot Straight here in Apopka FL, only thing thay had was Hornady TAP (Tactical Application Police) $26.99 a box of 20 = $1.35 a round. OUCH!!! 4 boxes was $114 and change. No one has a single box of cheap stuff.

It's bad and getting worse. Bulk 22LR has ceased to exist, and finding bulk 9mm and .45 ACP is very very difficult. .40 still seems to be in reasonably good supply. |
