| 1x fired brass...is this a good deal?
I found a guy locally that has 1000 cleaned 1x fired 5.56 head stamped brass for $150. Is that a good deal, average or not really? I was thinking I would pick it up in case I wanted to get into reloading in the distant future... |

Definetly!!!! I have been buying 1000 ounce fired matched for $90 and that was a steal. Considering the market, pounce on it and load away. I saw one LGS here that had ounce .223 brass for 25.99 for 100...... That was just birthday rape!!!! Bullets are scarce like ammo so order that quick with powder. Primers are still easy to get |

Reality Check: Machine Gun Fired? Sized/Trimmed? Deprimed/DeCrimped? There are vendors who specialize in fully prepped, once fired military brass. You can get it at salvage yard prices to save $$$$ and then have to spend a lot of time and effort prepping it so it can be safely reloaded. It may be better and safer to find fully prepped cases and spend more time on range...than working over military crimped brass that also needs trimming and fl- resizing...and re-tumbling. Just another side of the issue to remember. |

yeah, after a little more research I decided against it. Im planning on waiting for supply to come back and price to go down a bit. I know it'll be a couple of months but... I think he sold it all anyway cause the ad is gone |

Well it is some work, but I am able to do 1000rnds for $220. We have a lathe setup for trimming and sizing so that gos real quick. Usually hold reload parties and have a few and we produce more faster lol. but for now, there is no ammo period around here so it keeps us at the range every weekend.
