Throughout this gun 'control' debate, I constantly hear the following statement from the other side:

"Well, why does anyone need a [military-style][semi-automatic][high capacity][high power] 'assault rifle'?"

On various news shows, 'our' side often correctly offers up the answer that we are guaranteed that right by the second amendment. However, I think we need to go further than that.

I have yet to see one person on the news defend that the ar-15 (or similar) platform is arguably the best solution for home defense. Not that I think the 'hunting purposes' argument is important, but this platform is also excellent for certain types of hunting. I'm sure there are plenty more arguments as to why we 'need' it... (even though 'need' is irrelevant)

Personally, I'm pretty tired of "if you don't agree with me, you want innocent children to suffer" from the other side...

To hell w/ the bleeding heart liberal asshats. This has nothing to do with the safety of children.We could show these morons how to make so many things safer for kids.The Lefts agenda is NWO and they cant have any us refusing their agenda and they know the patriots tool for freedom is their rifle.Cant really hold a position with a hand gun.The funny thing is we all know that very few murders are committed with sporting rifles the hand gun trumps the stats and from there we all know that blunt trauma and bludgeoning lead the way for all of the murders not to mention that the body count is composed of mainly thug, drug, and other dregs.
These ass-hats wont be happy until you need a permit to carry a water pistol.Hang on brothers, we need to keep cool to show integrity and that we are in control.If the need arises most here will do the right thing.Lets hope our beloved NRA can hold em off and hopefully Ovomit wont have much steam in his Ex.action.This dummy just might set off a large civil disturbance if his plan shows total disrespect for the accountable law abiding gun owners here in America.

I wonder if they will ban people from 'dressing in military style combat gear' (a phrase I heard a few days ago on the news, in reference to a black fishing vest...)

I also heard 'automatic ammunition in a rapid-fire clip'....

Let us do this......

Military-style deals SOLEY with cosmetics. It means it LOOKS a hell of a lot like a m16/m14 and its variants, or an AK and its varients, and so one and so forth. However, that is where the SIMILARITIES END.

M16/m14 are meant for burst fire/auto fire, respectively. This means for every trigger pull, you fire MORE than 1 bullet. AK's are generally full auto.

AR-15's are semi-automatic, NOT burst/full auto. 1 bullet is expelled per every trigger pull. THEY ARE NOT MACHINE GUNS.

Cosmetically similar, functionally different.

If people would stop looking at a weapon and saying "It so scawee!!!" maybe we could have a civilized conversation about it.

How many of those guns do you think were acquired legally? How many of those guns do you think legislation will stop? How many of those guns do you think will injure, or kill, someone who cannot LEGALLY be armed?


Having skipped through much of this......... I have seen this kind of stuff happen. Makes me sick.

That video is also an argument for "The gun is only as deadly as it's user."

The problem now is that guns are so easy to legally acquire that thugs don't even have to steal them. Anyone that can't legally purchase one has a relative or friend that can. They "decide" they no longer want it and give it to the thug. Thug removes the serial number and uses the gun however he/she sees fit. This happens routinely in certain areas of the country.

How do you guys propose we seriously and proactively solve this problem?

I made it through about four minutes of that video. I could say a lot with regards to the individuals filmed, but I won't. I will just say that I feel really bad for the law enforcement down there, as well as the dogs in the video.

Also ask the folks that had to defend themselves and their businesses during the LA riots, when there were large groups of people looting and burning down businesses, why they needed AR 15s and 30 round magazines.

this weapons ban is a load of bull from the get go, the kid who commited the sandy hook shooting wasn't even old enough to own the guns, he was also mentally ill. I see all of this being a problem with our mental health state and terrible parenting, pay attention to your kids. I don't want to speak ill of the passed, but, the mother of the sandy hook shooter knew the kid has issues, but yet she still gave him access to her weapons, in case of emergency. Gun control in the eyes of the government is the easiest target, it will get the most support so they are going to run with it. Your gonna start taking guns out of the hands of law abiding citizens that aim to protect or for a hobby? Criminals have been getting weapons illegally for years, you won't be able to ever stop that.
