Another change.

They've got different furniture...

The pictures on the website are different.

It's funny - I don't think anyone's even held a single SIG 516 Patrol AK, and already the image has changed.

The same has happened to the SIG 716 Precision Marksman - I know some examples of the SIG 516 Precision Marksman made it to consumers, but doubt if anybody's gotten their hands on the 7.62mm version.

A previous thread I started on the SIG 716 Precision Marksman:

New sights?

They changed that part, too?

whoops worded wrong...... The new sig sauer magpul copy furniture I do not like and what I ment to say is the new stuff was sights, furniture and seems like gas block. Troy sights are awsome and if I wasnt so cheap I would upgrade. The new sights look like troy.

gun I held was a patrol. Im guessing that they still have magpul furniture instock and will assemble they until its gone. Im guessing as the one I held had a magpul grip but all other stuff was sig

I have a 716 that I purchased from Sig directly in January and the date of production was the same month. It is identical to first picture and has magpul furniture. I am not saying that anyone is incorrect but I would not judge based on pics of the website. I also just bought a 516 and picked it up today, also full magpul furniture. I am in the shop 3 times a week, let me know if you want me to check anything out for you!

Also I heard today that sig is going to start charging if you send your gun back because it is not shooting accurately if they find it is within spec. Just an FYI

If I could bother you over it, pics of the elusive new SIGs as mentioned below...

Felt on a brand new sig 716 today. The new stuff is now confirmed junk. New sights, new stock, also the pisten block looks different. The grip was magpul though. I hated the stock.
I'm curious about what changes they did to the non - replaceable hardware.

Call me shallow, but one of the reasons I picked the SIGs was for their looks - I really liked the G3 / FALish - looking over - the - barrel assembly.

Aesthetically, I felt that they really got it right.

Oh god, I really hate the new look. Makes it look so bulky with the new furniture.
I'm getting a 516 Gen2 in 1-3 weeks from a Polish dealer, hope I can still get the Magpul version.
Also, has anything else than the stock and the grip (and propably the sights) changed? Does this version feature new parts inside it's mechanism?
It's really hard to get Magpul parts here in Poland, so I really DO hope I make it to get the older version.

Just called my distributor.

They do have one coming in, but it's spoken for...

And there are around 60 orders ahead of me dating back to 2012!

Called another SIG distributor, that offered to call SIG directly to find out...

They said that this model (the SIG 716 Precision Marksman) was going to start production in August.

Jeez! There's just so much inconsistency - it's so hard to get the real scoop.

Should've updated this thread with the new sights...

These images were from GunBroker.com.

Hm.

I wonder if the supplier of their usual sights was having trouble keeping up, and they had to outsource to someone else...

Just came across this.

Didn't realize this is how they were originally supposed to look...

Yeah I saw that thread. My furniture is Sig, not Magpul so my buttstock is completely different & I have the 2nd generation gas piston like Nestor pictured in page two of that thread but neither of them actually broke the piston down to it's individual components which is what I was referring to earlier so it's no help on that point.

Other than that it's your basic Ar-15/M-16 which is as easy to disassemble as falling off a chair is to a drunk, minus taking the barrel off the upper receiver. I've never had a reason to do that other than curiosity & I'm not that curious lol

Very informative though, nice pics & kudos to the person who took the time to do it.

After looking at the pictures above, it was only then I realized how the patterns cut into the gas block influenced the overall aesthetic (same holes through the foreend).

#31 ·
Past the point that I like how the 716 looks, aesthetics don't mean any thing to me....if that makes any sense.

I'm now strictly focused on the gas piston & the assembly/disassembly of the unit personally. I.E. taking the entire gas piston assembly out of the rifle & breaking it down into it's base parts & reassembling them. All I see is a roll pin holding it together....you?

#32 ·
Same here, just a roll pin.

#33 ·
Have you attempted to disassemble it or do you have any info about it? I'm just worried that if I take it apart to inspect it the pin might get messed up trying to push it back in or I could lose the little booger....it's just a roll pin apparently but I have had amazingly bad luck with them through the years lol
