I am new too.

I got 3 of them. 300 winmag, 7mm remmag, and 25-06. Got a couple of 270 win barrels and 30-06 barrel too. I have been collecting parts and barrels for while. They are getting hard to find.

All of them are great shooters for bench or hunting...

I am picking up my 7mm magnum today!

Next week heading north to look at a .25-06 synthetic and a .30-06 barrel. They have a .270 with a scope, wood stock and a .280 in synthetic with an extra wood stock. Trying to control myself will be difficult. I think the .25-06 and .30-06 barrel will be the one I purchase. Numerich advertises .270 barrels still available.

Picked up a .270 barrel and clip springs at Numerichs and a set of Leupold Quik release and mounts. One of the guns came with them.
I did buy a .25-06 synthetic, .280 in wood and extra synthetic stock, and .30-06 barrel.

I have one

I have a SIG SHR 970 in.30-06. I purchased it new when they first came on the market. I don't remember the year but I think they were only sold for a couple of years. I love mine. It's very accurate, with the right ammo, and I also like the smooth operation. It is somewhat fussy about ammunition but with the right load (I hand load) it will shoot less than 1 MOA.

There's a PDF user manual on line free download if it helps. Let me know if you find a parts supplier.

Hello, I am new to the forum, but definitely no rookie to Sig rifles/pistols.

I recently purchased a STR 970 in 300wm (26" heavy fluted barrell with muzzle brake, and bedded/floated mcmillan stock) . This will be the first bolt action Sig rife I have owned. I am very pleased with the fit/finish and quality of the rifle. The rifle was un-fired in the factory case and no scope or rings has ever been mounted. For those who are wondering, I picked it up for $1100. I am building this rifle to shoot prone from a bipod out to 1000 yards.

I am currently searching for a quality 20moa picatinny scope base rail. After several hours of internet education, I have a very good grasp on the history of the 970 rifles in the US market. I already picked up a Evolution Gun Works (EGW) 20moa base rail. It is 6061 Aluminum and does not have a recoil lug.

I emailed almost every quality/reputable scope base/ring manufacture (that I know of) and none were able to order a 20moa rail for the 970 action. However, many offered to custom mill one. I did find a listing for a standard base for a 970 from a German company, but I have not heard back from them about international shipping. My scope choice is the Leupold mark4 LR/T 8.5-25x 50mm and I most likely will be using Seekins aluminum 4 bolt rings. I like the fact that Seekins uses 4 smaller bolts clamping the ring to the base instead of the larger single nut most manufactured use.

My question to all the Sig experts is do you know of any manufactures or distributors that stock or can order a 20moa picatinny scope base rail for the SHR/STR 970 action?
Also, I hand load all my rounds and if anyone has any load results for how my rifle, or an SHR970, likes to shoot 300 win mag, please send them my way.

Respectfully,
Mike
