New MCX - 1st Range Report

Range report- Went to shoot it for first time at an indoor 75 yard range. (It's really hot here...

Ran 5x30 round mags through it with no issues at all. The last mag is a GI mag that came with the rifle and I had to push it really hard to get the mag to lock in. The sig mags went in easily, but that GI one can't be trusted.

Shot at 50, 25, then 75 yards with iron sites then just red dot.

Left to right I was really tight within a couple of inches. Height wise I was shooting consistency low. The range officer reminded me that it is sighted for 100 yards so I should be low naturally. So with that in mind, I think this unit is sighted in "good enough" until I get to a proper range.
My new carry bag worked really good too, very functional.

It is a bit long if you fold the stock but I like the extra room or I just put it in with stock extended.
I realized I ran the gas with Negative Down the whole time. I am still unsure where to run this setting.
Early on, my crappy flashlight setup gave up as the light went dim and the light itself almost fell out of the holder. I will need to replace it for sure.
This was also my first experience with red dot sights. It didn't take me too long to figure out keep both eyes open and let the dot just be seen by both eyes. It almost looks like an optical illusion, I do like it.
Found myself wishing for a laser on it so I don't need to get my head down against the rifle to sight it. After having my laser on my XDS I was trying some point and shoot, but I know it would be very effective if there was a laser on the rifle.
I collapsed the stock and shot several times both aiming and doing point and shoot.
When shooting to 75 yards and with my bad eyes I was really wishing for a 4x1 optic. It's is just hard to shoot that far without magnification. I cannot even see where I hit, I had to bring the target back to see, but was actually surprised I was still accurate.
Ammo was great. Not any issues at all, so I may just stick with that brand. IMI 62 grain.
Cleaning up afterwards went well, dirty just a bit at tip of barrel, around the piston gas setup, and in the bolt carrier area too. I thought it would be dirtier than it was, pretty clean considering.
As far as "breakin procedures" I obviously didn't shoot 5 then clean etc like so many people say. I just shot 5 mags and brought it home and cleaned it. That's how I break in a rifle lol all that other stuff is a bit ridiculous.
My normal cotton pad wiped and qtip things didn't work too well on the metal of this gun. I found the wipe falling sort as I wiped parts of the metal it just grated it like cheese. I will need to find something different for wiping these things.
Overall, I still absolutely love this rifle and shooting it was a dream. I definitely am happy with the choice and have no regrets yet.

I got mine a couple of weeks ago, first time ran with plus down, they way it was in the box and was blowing at least two primers a mag, and jamming. Read the manual and it looked like - down without a suppressor. So next time out ran 90 rds without a problem. So far I like the rifle. I did put a Hiperfire EDT trigger to replace the factory trigger (10.5lb factory).
