716 mags

I bought 2 AR Stoner mags and neither one functions in my weapon, they feed 1st round then eject spent case but faile to strip next round.DPMS mags work perfect, only visual difference is where the last cartridge is( left or right side of mag) should note these are 10 round mags.Anyone else have this problem?Cartiges are all beat to shit after manually trying to run them through the weapon.

I have run only Pmags in mine. They have been flawless. I believe SIG still has them in stock at $19.95/ea.

That's bad news. I've been contemplating purchasing some of those Stoner mags but considering your experience I think I'll hold off. Problem is, being from California, no one will ship PMags here because of the stinking 10 round magazine cap. Our only options are these Stoner mags or a long road trip to Nevada or Arizona.

I have one DPMS 10rnd I think is for LR308 that I got from Midway works great. I think the stoners are Ar10 not SR25. If I remember right the DPMS mag was about $30.00,but always out of stock.

Yup...MidwayUSA is out of stock. So, I checked out Cheaper Than Dirt. They didn't say in stock, out of stock or Backorder but I placed an order for 3 DPMS LR308s. Got an Order Confirmation but no expected ship date. CTD wasn't my first choice but we'll see how it goes.

CTD isn't to bad that's where I was able to get a 4lb Tmnet trigger fo my 716, maybe $10.00 more than Midway but they had it.

Can't you just put a limit block in the 20 round so it will only hold 10?

Not in Wisc. It must be permanent ,but now I hear that law may have changed to no capacity limit. That would be great as I have many P-Mag 20 rnd left over from deployments.

My CTD order shipped today. The magazines shipped UPS 3-5 Business Days so I might have them by the end of the week. If they do, I'll test them out this weekend and let ya'll know how they pan out.

That's great they should work fine,ARs can be mag picky but the one DPMS mag I have works in mine. What did Sig ship with your weapon if in Cal 20s are not legal? How do you like the 716? Mine has been great, served me well overseas with no problems if properly maintained.

My 716 came with the MagPul 20 rnd magazine it shipped with but the Gun Shop I purchased it at altered the mag to limit it to 10 rounds. I wasn't very pleased with the way the altered it either. They actually drove rivets through both sides of the case at the 10 round level limiting the capacity but also making the magazine unserviceable as far as maintenance is concerned. With the rivets in place the magazine can't be disassembled for cleaning.

I'm sure these new mags will work out fine.

Oh, and I love my 716. It's the best damn semi automatic .308 I've ever had the pleasure of firing. Smooth as silk and deadly accurate. I'd use it as my primary deer hunting rifle but at just under 11 lbs fully dressed, it's just a tad bit too heavy to be totin around the woods.
