Sig556R factory quad rail

Has anyone sent their 556R to SIG to have the factory quad rail installed? If so how do you like it? Also if you could post a picture I would love to see how it looks. I'm thinking of sending mine in but would like to hear what other people think about the rail SIG offers.

I talked with a member who goes by the name padom, he said he was sending his rifle in to have the quad rail installed. If you see this post please let me know how you like the rail, that is if you've got it back from SIG yet. Thanks WBJ.

What is the difference in this and the rail system that comes with the rifle?

(Noob Question)

If I'm not mistaken, the 556R comes with the Swiss style polymer handguard. It has places where you can mount short rail sections on it, but does not come with any out of the box.

Looks like a single rail, or maybe top and bottom. (pic's a bit dark). He wants the quad rail that comes standard on the Classic SWAT and SWAT Patrol models.

It comes with 4 rails. One ton top, one on each side, and one on the bottom than has an angle to make whatever is attached there to be flat.

Is there a kit to full length rails?

I believe the handguards/rails are interchangeable among the different models. However, I also believe, since they're proprietary, that it would be very expensive.

There is a Picatinny rail on the upper and three optional detachable rails for 3, 6 and 9 o'clock mountings on the fore end.

Hi KiowaKid would you mind posting a pic of your 556r I would love to see how it looks with the rail installed. I've heard its about a two week turn around time from shipping to receiving from SIG. How long did it take you?

To answer phinheads question SIG offers a quad rail to replace the stock handgaurds. I have also found a quad rail by troy Ind. It cost around $300 but does not allow you to lock the stock in the folded position. The rail that SIG offers does allow for the stock to lock when folded and does not interfere with the warranty. I believe it cost around $300 + shipping. I have not been able to find any pics of it installed on a 556r. Also I see you live in
Dothan AL I live in Dothan as well. What are the chances?

Good deal. Academy sold their 716, but I saw another 556R on sale. I was also told there were rumblings that they would have a brief sale on 556s for $1025, if they could be found in stock.

They have a single M400 too.

Another local store is getting a shipment of 516s.
