New Sig Ultra Nitron .45

So I picked up a New Sig Ultra Nitron .45 for carry. Fits nicely in my N8 holster. So does the Springfield compact tho.

In comparison to a Springfield compact, it doesn't quite have the accuracy. I'm thinking part of it is that it's 3/4" of an inch shorter, but also that the grips are so smooth they aren't biting into my hand.

It's not horrible, but the Springfield is quite a bit more consistent (practicing @ 7yds). I do notice that the Sig sight picture is on target where I have to hold the SA low.

Am I on track by replacing the grips? The SA are clearly grippyier.

if so, who's got a line on some better grips that
a. provide a better grip
b. aren't' some garish color that draws the eye
c. don't break the bank

I like the VZ ones, but $75 for grips seems excessive.

Thanks in advance.

I like the new Ultra. Congratulations. Take a look at LOK grips. Made in the USA and reasonable priced.

I have a nice pair of grips or two maybe that I'd be willing to trade for your unloved SIG grips...let me know by PM

Have you ever tried slim grips and bushings on your Ultra?

Again, let me know. I have a million or two sets of grips for the Officer's frame 1911 and I really like those SIG grips of yours.

Here is a set of Raasco, a set of Herrets Walnut and also a grip adapter that will give you finger purchase on the front strap.

Nice score - I'm really bummed they seem to have discontinued the Ultra.

Check out Cool Hand for G-10 grips:

Very nice! Congrats!

I have a two tone Ultra and like it very much.

Before you change your grips, you may want to try s few different brands of ammo and bullet weights.

I love the Ultra's, especially the Nitron, not so much the 9mm.

Must not be copyright on grips, those coolhand OP patterns look just like VZ operator II's which are my favorite.

I like the VZ too, but at almost $80 (w/ shipping) it's a bit much for grips IMHO.

The Coolhand are nice, but can I get them in plain black? (sent coolhand a email on this.) I know at some point my shirt will ride up and having high contrast doesn't seem smart.

I still like the Springfield better...Sig is a close second tho.

Still looking, but headed to the range today to turn some dollar bills into loud noises.
