I like 357 Sig. I have several pistols in that caliber and most have a 40 barrel to go along with it. Lately I have been carrying .45acp. I also have pistols in 9mm and .380acp.

Since all major self-defense pistol calibers are pretty much the same in effectiveness, the better question should be, "How many rounds do you like to carry in a single magazine".
For me, that is at least ten.
12 of 9mm in my P365, or 10 of .40 S&W in my M&P40c, or 10 of 10mm in my G29, or 15 rounds of 9mm in my G19. I have carried all four pistols over the course of last week. I did carry a 1911 with 9 rounds of .40 S&W one day. It felt like I was carrying a brick on my hip all day.
Some people are comfortable with 5 rounds, some are comfortable with 8 rounds.
I like at least 10 rounds of at least 9mm.

I carry 9mm because it's the biggest caliber available in a micro-compact. If 9mm were to magically disappear across the world, I would hope somebody would make a .357 Sig micro compact platform, but until then, I guess I would be forced to go back to .380.
