Ammo Shortage until late 2021?

This is a discussion on Ammo Shortage until late 2021? within the Ammo and Reloading forums, part of the Gun Forum category; I started shooting 7.62x39 more, it's still reasonably priced and available. The Russians are still pumping out ammo....

Prices on the Federal site are all over the place. Some are outrageous, some are reasonable.

Agree with shortages in the medium term due to uncertainties. Settled election and vaccine will do much to settle the markets but not the populace for some time to come... 'Before the times change, man's heart must change'!
$18.99 now for AE9AP and many other popular calibers currently unavailable.

If I can come up with the funds, that is my next firearm caliber.

It is very plausible. I am going to purchase as I can find it. I have a decent amount in the calibers I own. Guess range time may be limited until this passes.

I don't see this letting up anytime soon. If Trump is re-elected there will be continued riots and violence. If Biden wins and the Democrats take the Senate we will see almost immediate restrictions including AR bans, "high capacity" bans, and high taxes on ammo. If Biden gets to appoint a supreme court justice or two we will lose significant 1st and 2nd amendment rights, which could itself spark violence. Our country is in deep doodoo right now.

I've got plenty of ammo but am looking for more and also picking up 10 rd mags. They may get real scarce also. The biggest change is I'm hardly shooting at all. Gone from weekly trips to the range to maybe a box every other month.

I find that bad things usually come in 3's.

Covid desperation and Social unrest are bad enough.....

But then add in a natural disaster......Hurricane, Tornado, Flood, Firestorm when police and first-responders are overwhelmed and citizens are left to fend for themselves with no protection against home invaders. Desperate People do Desperate Things

I'm hopeful that human kindness and the American Spirit will prevail.

But I'm prepared to defend my castle if it doesn't.

a good resource for me during the last and current ammo drought:

This+1. It's now the lesser of two evils. Trump is not doing enough to calm our anxieties, and the window of opportunity is closing. As for Biden? NEVER!!!

I have a decent supply for all my calibers but not enough to keep up with our outings to go shoot. My lady is pretty new to owning her first gun and we had made a good habit of going out together with the dogs to go shoot in the woods every week and have had to pretty much stop. We would typically burn a 500 box of 9mm and then I would send a at least 200 rounds each of 10mm and .357sig. No way to replenish what we shoot with the lack of inventory and crazy prices.....What a disaster with more storms on the horizons.

I have been preaching for quite sometime that prices are going to skyrocket between now and the election and beyond. It is now past the point of manufacturers trying to keep up with the demand. The backorder you see posted on so many ads is not comforting because many of the big time manufacturers and distributors can not even begin to give any "ship by date" to their customers downline.

I am not backordering anything. Nada. I am pretty set on what I have and need (unless I get into another caliber). But the biggest reasons I am not backordering is, 1.) No one knows when they will be able to fill all the backorders, 2.) Some may charge my card before it actually is in stock, 3.) I don't want to count on something making it to me, 4.) and if I need it chances are I need it now.

These protests are going to keep going right up to the election in November and beyond. The crowds are going to get bigger. You will have armed militias show up and no one is going to know who's who when the shooting starts.

No matter who wins the election, it will not be resolved until 2021. The protests are only going to get more riotous, bloody, and deadly. Remember, there are 30 million out of work. They have nothing to do except riot and protests (that's also a big reason why so many are still happening with bigger crowds than expected).

Soon, if not today, their assistance and the added $600 per week is going to run out. That means 30 million additional people are going to get desperate. Break-ins, home invasions, burglaries, will soar simply to take what you have and sell it/pawn it. This, more than anything else, is driving the gun and ammo craze. People are scared.

Everyone needs to take a deep breathe, take inventory, and buy what you need today because it is going to have to last until (minimally and realistically) until spring 2021.

Ammo is not going to get cheaper. Guns are not going to get cheaper. I don't care about all the gun purchases now and how people are drooling over that market hitting the used sites. That will not happen until Summer-fall 2021.

And if the dems win? Good buy high-cap magazine (rifle and handgun), AR/AK pistols and stocks, shotguns like the Mossberg Shockwave, suppressors, limits on gun purchases per month/year, and definitely limits on Ammo.
Couldn't have articulated it better. I think there will be worse riots and more severe violence after the election no matter who wins. Guns and ammo will be scarce for longer than the article states. My enemy is anyone that shoots at or threatens me. It's called "primal survival instinct".

PPU seems to always be very fair priced and its usually hot ammo, in other words, packed to actual specs round was designed for.

I like PRVI as well as Red Army. They both generally are priced decent, and both shoot well.
