Great deal on m11-a1 (lightly used) on gunbroker $550.
That is nice to see—the no reserve thing.
Thing is, nearing the end of the bidding, it will be at $750 or so, and no longer a good deal. Seems to happen every time.
I feel like the last four or five great looking auctions I've entered, this inevitably happens, and I think, 'why wouldn't these bidders just spend a few extra bucks for a new one?'
I just won my P239 on GB being the only bidder on NR at $425. The sights were dead (no problem, as I'm replacing with XS 24/7 Big Dot) and the gun wasn't even polished-off before taking the picture! There were cobwebs and other junk on it, but the smileys indicate a lightly-used weapon to me. It's not perfect, but it damn-well's worth $450 shipped!
No matter what, I never bid until the auction is ready to close, or has a BIN. It doesn't make sense to alert other buyers that they have competition...lull them into a false sense of security!
Not to rag on the OP, but posts like this don't help either...if it's a good deal on a Sig going on in an auction, there's probably at least one regular member who's aware of it, and bidding on it. There are lots of "part-time" users of ST who just scour the Trading Post section, and use the classifieds to buy and sell stuff. I'd rather see a contributing member get a shot at the deal then have it posted and ruin any chance at a score for someone.
If anything, PM one or two members you think might be interested in the auction, and let it be. I know I'd have been ****** had somebody mentioned my P239 auction with an hour left on it...the only real "winner" is the seller.
Yeah, in hindsight I should t have posted this, my close friend is now bidding on this pistol and he really wants it. Now I know, and knowing is half the battle
If not for the '15 minute' rule, I would have a 239 SAS two-tone for sure. I was in on a couple right at the original deadline; but the 15 minute rule kept it going...and going...to the point that one was $150 more(the other was closer to $100 more, but too rich for me after shipping and FFL fees).
Yeah, I had a not-so-fun 15 minutes, waiting for it to clear. In hindsight, I would bid at the 16 minutes remaining mark, and let the chips fall where they may. At least the time wouldn't be extended by your own bid.
