Pistol Brace question (MPX)

Hey Everybody, FNG to this site, long time lurker here.

Have a couple questions regarding braces. I notice there are a lot of manufacturers that make brace hosts and or modify stocks so you can attach a specific brace (Tailhook etc..) I understand the LOP criteria with these.

Is this considered a grey area or is it legitimate as long as you use a approved brace?

What I am wondering is if I can make my own brace (host) to adapt a tailhook mod1c? I have the means to fabricate stuff, I just really don't want cut and modify my sig folding skeleton stock unless I have to. I understand the whole brace thing consists of a lot of Grey. Just wondering if someone has more background in this area.

Hopefully this isn't in the wrong section or out of line here..

TIA

Which wire stock?

If it's the original "Kate Moss" version, those are worth a premium. I'd hesitate to cut it.

I'm not a lawyer. The 13.5" is a thing but when the ATF delivers an "opinion" about a specific configuration it's not law for everything. There's a letter floating around out there from 2018 and several manufacturers mention 13.5" or less LOP. I'm not going to test because fractions of an inch aren't worth my time/money, right or not.

Yes, the Kate Moss lol.

That's why I'm curious if I can make my own and stay under the 13.5" requirement with the Tailhook. Which results me saving cutting up that elusive stock.

I'll trade you a folding pcb with mod 1 tailhook on a custom Smith adapter, and the orginal Spinny end for your Kate. Can get you pics if you're interested.

Pics. It's been on an AR .22LR. Athletic tape is to stop the metal on metal when folded. LOP on an AR is 12", FWIW.
