Thumbs up Henry Rifle . . .

is 1st rate and a cut above, as far as I'm concerned.

Some years back, after seeing all of the ads, etc. I bought one . . . a Big Boy Steel .45/70. Guess I wanted one that would have a big bang and just about explode anything it hit, ha. Then, a little while after that, I spotted a Big Boy Silver Deluxe Engraved (Limited Edition 1 of 1,000) on Henry's site that looked great, so I ordered one of those too. However, when it came in, I have to say, I was a little disappointed. The wood color and grain didn't look like the one shown on the Henry site and I just didn't like it. Just me and purely cosmetic. Of course I know that wood (sets) vary from one to another and I accepted it anyway, hoping that it would grow on me. Well, never did so after a good while, I took a chance and called Henry, expressing my situation. Really didn't think they'd do anything about my problem, but to my surprise, she said that they would replace it (the entire rifle) with another one with darker wood. Ha, and they did. But . . . the one they sent looked pretty much like the one I sent to them. Not better or darker, just different. Well, I just didn't want to call again and further abuse their generosity and good will, so I didn't . . .

until a couple of weeks ago. Ha, only just a couple years after the other replacement is all, but I just had to try since it was still not right, to me. Well, well . . . they ok'd it to be sent back, again, where they would replace it's stockset with their "fancy" darker stockset that I thought I was getting from the very beginning. Got it back yesterday and nope, not what you're rightfully thinking (lol) . . . I love it!

So I just had give them praise for going over and above in their customer satisfaction, for which I'm beyond very grateful. At any rate, here are a few pics I quickly took. Shows different in pics, but it is darker. It's like I just got a new gun, which is a great feeling. Btw, for a nominal fee, I'll send your "stuff" back to be replaced, no matter how long you've had it, so that you're not the one they'll cuss out behind your back . . .

. . . .45 Long Colt . . .

Guess they really mean it . . .

It is good to hear Henry took good care of you and made you a happy customer. I have only one of their rifles. I ordered it through Bud's and was happy with the transaction for the purchase. Mine is a Big Boy Carbine, Model # H006CR in .45 Colt. I bought it to go with my S&W .45 Colt Mountain Gun in case I ever get invited to a BBQ Party. I have had it for over 3 years now and haven't received a single invite yet.

That is absolutely amazing, customer service. I have never heard a negative word about them, nor their products, but this is astonishing!

By the way, they are positively gorgeous, too!
Congrats ...

Thanks everyone. Again, I'm more astonished than anyone that they did this even the 1st time. But a 2nd time, years later over a customer just not liking the color??? Ha, outstanding!

I have to admit I have never been a fan of Henry’s. I have Uberti’s for the earlier versions (‘66 & ‘73 - which I shoot in CAS) and second gen Winchesters for ‘86, ‘92, and ‘94, and a Browning-made ‘95.

But your rifle is beautifully done. I don’t quite know what the previous wood looked like, but I DO like the dark wood you now have. Makes the gun look distinctive. And as you say, being willing to do something for you after several years is pretty amazing customer service. Wish all gun companies were similar.

Best of luck to you with your acquisition. I see you have put some range time on it. .45 Colt is a great cartridge, and with the advent of Trail Boss it is fun to reload.

Tks Devereau. You certainly have some to be proud of yourself. Here is my original. And the 2nd looked very similar. Nice and alot of owners with this woodset are proud of theirs, but I just wanted something else or more . . .

Have never had a moments trouble out of my Henry levers. Nice to know, that if I ever do, they have great service.

Clear finish wood is tricky to work with. I always do mock ups for customer approval. Also do any stains and at least one coat of sealer, before installation. I then cull out the uglies. Sometimes we can use them in areas that have painted trim. If the customer specs for clear finish, I make sure they know ahead of time about the possibility of added cost. Henry, by eating the cost, went above and beyond.

I have never had to deal with the customer service because I have never had any problems with my Henry big boy...except for the fact that one of my brothers won't give it back.

I "had" the 357/38 model. I have only shot .38 with it but he may be shooting .357.

So if you see a retired fed on the range in the Cincinnati area shooting a Henry Big Boy, tell him his brother wants his rifle back.

I've heard similar stories of Henry customer service.

Fortunately, I've never experienced a problem with my Big Boy .357. But it's certainly nice knowing that if I ever do, I'll be treated like a valued customer.

Beautiful. Great with the strap. I've got to put mine on my .45/70.
