Did you field strip, inspect all parts (barrel, slide, RSA, frame), and reassemble the gun? Is the barrel aftermarket? A $1200 Elite Sig should be tight and not rattle as you say. Anything short of that, ain't worth that price.

The Platinum was basically a bright version of the Elite Dark and has the same rear "adjustable combat night sight". Early versions of the sight had problems maintaining their position after getting it sighted in. I believe SIG fixed that at some point. But from what I recall, the rear dovetail cut in the slide isn't the standard depth. So it doesn't use a standard sight height configuration. Not off a lot, but it seems to be enough to cause problems for some people. Sharp looking gun. Price is a bit high, but they all are right now.
The barrel shouldn't rattle on any P-series when in battery. The slide may on some guns, depending on tolerance stacking, if it isn't greased.
