Usually I'd say get it all like me, lol. But, I'd go with .308.

Thatís with factory ammo-

And with a good brake on the gun like this, the gun is very soft shooting. My grandson when he was 3 years old was laying behind this gun taking shots. That shows how soft the recoil is.
Nice

Overall I just like 308 better. Nothing wrong with 6.5 at all but some people act like it has magical powers, like it does everything a 300wm/7mm mag does. Yes I heard that come out of a guys mouth. Within 500yds the 308 just seems to outperform the 6.5 fairly noticeably energy wise and I can’t really tell the difference in accuracy. You start pushing out farther and the 6.5 will be easier to make hits. How much more idk as I haven’t tried. My dad loves his 6.5 but I love my LaRue UUK and lower in 308. It’s a heavy beast though and recoil is actually less than my dads 6.5 Ruger American.

I'd look at a Sig 716G2 DMR in 6.5cm or an FN Scar 20s in 6.5cm.

Felt recoil will almost always be heavier in a bolt gun vs a semi-auto- with same or similar cartridges.

Buy or build a .308 rifle and then get a 6.5 creedmoor upper for it.

Best of both worlds.
