Right. The Legion SAO’s thumb safety works by blocking movement of the unique trigger bar.

The thumb safeties differ in size (as well as the related spring and the connecting cross pin / bolt) between the 220 vs 226 / 229, but they all work via that cross pin / bolt’s interaction with the trigger bar on the right side. Thus you can operate the slide while safety engaged. Also, this method also explains the need for the right thumb safety.

You must be thinking about the X5 series that lock the slide with the safety on (afaik, that feature exists on the P226 and P220 X5s
Yes you're correct, I was thinking of my German X5s.

Thanks for the correction.

I own (and am quite fond of) the P220 Legion "Full size" and am looking at the P220 Legion Carry size.
I will say between the two, the difference in size and weigh is not as much as you would think.

Data taken from Sigs website.

PISTOL SIZE Carry Full-Size
OVERALL LENGTH 7.1 in (180 mm) 7.7 in (195 mm)
OVERALL WIDTH 1.5 in (38 mm) 1.3 in (33 mm)
HEIGHT 5.5 in (140 mm) 5.5 in (140 mm)
BARREL LENGTH 3.9 in (90 mm) 4.4 in (112 mm)
WEIGHT (OZ) 30.4 oz (861 g) 30.4 oz (862 g)
SIGHT RADIUS 5.7 in (145 mm) 6.3 in (160 mm)

I stopped by a LGS this afternoon, who is a Master SIG Dealer, and got word that three had been allocated to them. One is mine and I know a second is also spoken for. Given there will only be 500 made, getting one most likely will require you to order one through a Master dealer.

Nope, not a hint. All the LGS has is an email from the SIG sales rep at this point. Whatever MSRP is on the full size P220 Legion SAO would be my low estimate.

As of last Friday, my LGS a master dealer for Sig, had three promised/allocated to them. All they had was an e-mail confirming it. They did not have price info at that time. I would be surprised if anyone has seen one yet. Maybe in a week or so they will hit retail stores.

If you are wanting one, I would go to the SIG website and find a master dealer near you and see if they will take an order.
